Charlottetown,
Well at the end of last season my brakes started making some noise under braking. I had never serviced them since purchasing the car and figured they were just do for new pads and rotors at least in the front.

I finally got around to pulling at least one side of the front brakes apart. How can I tell what was wrong, what needs servicing etc. I am going to get new pads and rotors anyways but dont want to put it back together and have the same issues next season.

On the one front caliper I pulled I noticed that inside the cylinder was all rusted. Is this normal? I will post some pictures tomorrow.

check to see if theres any warping in the rotor you can do this just by running your hand over it and feeling for waves on the rotor. the brake pads are pretty much all visual but if your rotors are bad more than likely so are your pads.
