1G/2G head identification

I need to know if my head is a 1G or a 2G. The CAS is a 1G so that is out of the question. Are there markings to see if there is a difference?

I dont think any 2gs use a CAS, so if that hole is plugged, its a 2g, and if not, its a 1g.

Some 2gs have a CAS I'm pretty sure. You could check the studs for the exhaust manifold though to see if it's a 6/7 bolt head, which may help. The outer most studs will be larger if it is a 7 bolt. They're all the same on a 6 bolt. And the ports on the 1g are much larger.

Uhm also the thermostat housing bolts give it away. If its a 1g the studs/holes will have equal spacing, making a triangle. On a 2g, they do not have equal spacing.

That and the intake ports on a 2g are like half the size as a 1g.

I have a 94 gsx with the 1g 7-bolt. will a 1g 6-bolt head bolt on without any kind of alterations?

The head bolts may be a different size, but otherwise it should bolt on just fine. I think the holes for the head bolts are two different sizes for the 6 and 7 bolts. That's something that can be checked pretty quickly.

I bought 7bolt arp head studs intending to use this head just to find out most of the manifold stud holes are stripped, so I want a new head. so if I want a 6bolt head I'd need 6bolt head studs?(easier heads to find than 1g 7bolts)

hey I have a 95 eclipse GST and I am changing out the heads and noticed that the one im putting on has what i think to be a CAS on the end of the intake cam but my old one didnt have that so how would I adapt it?
