Well after all of the problems with my car i've had I'm going to buy a 7-bolt from this guy and swap back out from the 6-bolt. I plan on keeping the 1g head and teh arp head studs. I took a ride in his car and we have basicly the same mods to our cars but his seemed much faster than mine. We both have 14b's set at 15 psi but i have an a cat back exhaust and he has a stock exhaust but his still seemed to just seem faster. My question is why is that? I should clearly be faster at least up top. Both of us have stock fuel. no tuning on either car. its just crazy.

Clearly it's the condition of the engine that is making the difference. Also, are you driving both cars? The ass-dyno isn't always accurate, or even close. If your car is slower, than I would check for boost leaks and keep up on your regular maintenance.

It's just a matter of each car being different from one to the next, even with the exact same mods. OEM tuning is sporadic at best, sensor condition, maintenance, etc. all contribute to this.

That's one of the reasons "bench racing" or saying mod "X" will give you "XX" HP/torque is pointless.

You should do a compression and leak down test to your 6 bolt. His motor just may be healthier then yours. You may also have an unknown problem slowing your down. When was the last time you did a tune up... IE fuel filter, spark plugs, ect?

So you did a 6bolt swap and now your going to swap back because someone else's car seems faster

PS cars feel alot faster when your in the passenger seat...

No I'm not going back to the 7-bolt for that reason, its just that its a quick alternative to getting my car in running condition. So i can build the 6-bolt up the way i want it and then when ever I'm ready im going to put it back in. But since i'm in school full time i don't have the time or funds to put everything that i want to into the car. .

Yes both cars are awd and stock rims on both. Up grade driver mod :thumb: I would consider myself to be a pretty good driver thanks for the advice though.

I wasn't trying to make this a bench racing thread i know that there are alot of things that could trigger the cars to act different if i was comparing a 300hp supra to a 300hp dsm. but i know whats on his car and i know what i have and it just seemed alittle odd that his car seemed to have more power than mine. Yes i know that cars seem faster from the passanger side but i've ridden in the passanger seat of my car so i know how it feels.

he is selling a 7-bolt short block with all enternals for 150 bucks, So i was going to put that in my car and put on the 1g head that i have along with cyclone intake and 2g exhaust manifold. also he replaced the upper compression rings in all for cyclinders and hone the block when he put it back together. NO piston slap this time..
