i was looking to build my motor and hope to have it run 10s for a street car i have a 90 gsx and wanted to know which cams are better for the car i was looking to go hks cam gears and i didnt know what size cams which one is the best the hks 264, 272, or 280 please post ideas i can use some help also when ever i turn on my car it grinds when i try to put it in frist and some time gets stuck when i put it in reverse is that my clutch going bad?:dsm:

Only strip? Depends on if you want some bottom end power or just all top end? A 272/272 setup will be ideal for dragstrip but maybe not driving the 30 minutes back and forth to work for a daily driver. A normal intermediate setup would be the 264 (intake)/ 272 (exhaust) setup.

Sometimes the 5th and reverse synchros go bad in out cars. It wouldn't affect 1st gear though. Doesn't sound like your clutch is going bad, as it is more of a tranny problem.

i'd consider fp2x's, however if your mod list is as minimal as it looks, you have bigger fish to fry before you start worrying about building a valvetrain to go 10's. ;)

can the evo tranny fit into the 1g because i think im have tranny or clutch problems i was racing a box sentra with a sr20 and when i was gettin to like 5000 6000rpm it seem like it was trying to just out or gear and it did it in 3rd and 4th is that my clutch or tranny

why not get your tranny rebuilt, atleast you know you are fixing any/every problem with it instead of throwing a unknown tranny in. The more you drive it with problems, the problems you can/will create. I just got my tranny rebuilt with shepard forks, brass syncro's for $1200.

I agree with the others, you've gotta get more supporting mods before you think about achieving that 10 second time slip. But, if you are in a position where you can afford a good set of cams, from my personal experience, i'd go with 272/272 HKS's. These cams represent (to me) the perfect healthy medium between drag racing and street cams for a daily driver. I drive on mine every day to and from work, with an ACT 2600 thrown into the mixture too. I'm not going to pretend that I get good fuel economy, but the car drives great. Good luck bud.
