Ok well i just installed a mbc in my car and turned the boost up a little bit. It is hard for me to tell what boost i am running because it seems to be different in every gear. Is that normal at all? 2nd gear shows around 10 or 12 3rd probably like 14 and then 5th seems to go all the way up to 16. My question here is now under boost it has the normal spool up sound but also now seems to have a howl like sound at the same time. Anyone know what that would be from? Is that just a do a boost leak answer? One thing i know i upgraded to a 1g bov but i have not put a gasket in between the adapter bolt flange and the bov. Would that most likely leak? or what else could be making the howl sound?

I hope you at least used gasket sealer beween the BOV and the flange? (the kind that comes in a tube).. If you did dont worry about not having a gasket. Just as good. As for the howl hmm I didnt look at your info what turbo?

And yes i did use gasket sealant on the bov flange. Anyone know what would make a howling noise when it spools up? Kinda like a faint whistling noise?

The higher boost levels in higher gears is normal. Not sure about the howling sound but it could be from a boost leak so good idea to do the test. Personally I do boost leak tests periodically even if car seems to be running ok because they're easy to do and can fix many driveability issues.

OK so if higher boost levels in higher gears is normal. How should i set the boost as to not be outdoing the stock fuel system and turbo? If i have it boosting up to like 16 or 17 in 5th when i fully step on it, is that too high? Seems to be around 14 or 15 the most in other gears.
The howling only came on once i installed the mbc. Is that noise that is ever related to a problem with the turbo?

Don't know if this would be significant to this issue at all or not, but today when i was under the hood i saw that the vacuum line coming from the bov to the intake manifold was collapsed. I revved the car up and it expanded with air. Is that just normal with good vacuum pressure? I hadn't seen that before with any of the vacuum lines in my engine.
