i am looking to tune my 2g eclipse and was loking at two programs, dsmlink and ecuplus. a buddy of mine swears that ecu plus is better that dsmlink. i have read a crap load of threads on dsmlink but none on ecuplus. anyone have any experience with both? i am leaning more toward dsmlinkbut my options are still open. one thing i read on ecuplus is that you do not need an eprom which will save some bucks.

aslo 2g do not have a knock sensor so i am looking to get knock link. i read about it in one of the car mags and thought it may be something i might be interested in. the box has led that you can mount in the cabin and leds show the status. is it worth getting?

this is my mod list so far if it helps
hahn racecraft 20g turbo w/ 15psi wastegate
full 3inch exhaust
injen intake
650cc injectors
warlbro 255 pump
aeromotive fuel rail
aeromotive fpr
fuel pump rewire
BC 272 cams
eagle 2.3 stroker kit
sheet metal intake manifold
threadstone exhaust manifold
hallman mbc
ss Si valves, bronze guides, blue viton seals
BC valve springs
BC titanium retainers
act 2600 slutch
act lighten flywheel
skunk2 cam gears
apexi safc
maft/ gm maf
cometic head gasket
arp bolts and studs
magnacore wires
iridium spark plugs.

i am looking to get around 500hp at around 22-23 psi. is this enough or am i missing something? thanks

I recommend a different turbo for your goal...If your already running the 20g, then maybe set a slightly lower horsepower goal...Something in the likes of a 60-1 if you don't mind the lag...

For now, I say DSMLINK +1 ....I have no idea what ECU Plus is, sounds like some kind of reflash program (?)...I have never heard about it

yeah i have the hahn 20g turbo. I was looking into a turbonetics t60 but i do not want to weld a o2 housing that would bolt right on. if i can find a 50 trim or a t60 that will directly bolt on to the mitsubishi o2 housing then i will get. till then i guess i will stick it out with the hahn or go with the new hahn super 25g turbo.

i too have not heard about ecuplus untill my friend told me. but from what i read DSMlink is the way to go. oh well when i get mine in i'll have to do a comparison.

dsm is for our cars. Ecu+ can be used on other cars. The design is the same all around though. But dsmlink is always the better choice. Now with the stroker i say your goals will be done. a 60-1 will get your there like kackra said but remeber with a stroker. You use a lot less psi to get high horse. My friends tsi runs 15psi and makes 425 on a 50 trim. Thats with a no tune as well. A 20g set at about 23 should get you to 500 like you want. So your going in the right direction. I say set full steam ahead with your build using dsmlink.

thanks...so DSMlink it is..so with my current turbo set up i will be able to reach my goal. thanks again.

oh yeah so if DSMlink can monitor knock is the knock link useless? I don't want to get it if i don't have to. I thought that on a 2g you could not monitor knock

I don't have personal experience with either but I did a lot of research on both of these awhile back. ECU+ seems to be a good choice for budget-minded and mid-range power street vehicles, but the track and high horsepower is where DSMLink really outshines it in my opinion. DSMLink offers everything ECU+ does, but uses the ECU directly instead of offsetting MAS or CAS signals going to the ECU.

The thing that makes DSMLink better in my mind is the fact that there are lots of tuners manipulating code to allow extra features or extra headroom, such as using higher capacity or better resolution sensors. Also, if you need your ECU to control something additional not originally offered, you can get help from someone on their forums. DSMLink costs more, and you need an eprom, but it has more to offer. The thing to decide is how tight is your budget. If you can spare the extra cost, I say get DSMLink.

edit: And yes, you can monitor knock on a 2G.

well i want what i pay for. if it is worth the money being spent i will buy it. DSMlink sounds like it is well worth the cost

so with a hahn 20g turbo i will be able to reach my goal? i like the hahn because it spools quicly and fits perfectly. I will purchase another turbo later I want to reach my goal of 500 hp first then after that i'll set another goal. small steps to big power right?

yes sir you got it. small steps indeed. Now im saying a 20g set to the psi you said should get you there but iv only delt with 50 trims on a stroker. In which my friend did no problem with no tune. With a good tune he could have had A LOT more. From my understanding a 20g wil get you to your 500hp goals but i would like someone else to chime in with a 20g please. I havent delt with these turbos really before. So therefore i dont wana give you a misleading post.

thanks. I am also looking into a turbonetics t3/t4 t60 turbo. will this turbo surpass my intended goal or would be a good upgrade from the 20g.

if its the turbo im thinking of then yes it will do just fine. Between that turbo and your stroker you will have a lot to play with. You could probly even go a lot higher then 500 with that. Do you have a link to the turbo your looking at in the t3/t4 t60's? Id like to see it if so.

the holset is a nice turbo. The turbonetics is also nice but it says it can flow from 240-500 hp. Im taking it that that it goes up to 500. I remember that t60 going higher then 500 though. Either one will take you to 500 or above though. So there both fine. You will be happy with any of those. Also can you look into bigger injectors. With these 650s they might not be enough. 750s or 880s would be a no worrie kind of thing. There like 40 bucks more usually. Im going to use 650's on a 50 trim hoping for 400. So i say look into bigger for the 500 goal.

yeah i know. I sold my 560cc injectors and bought some 750cc RC injectors. I decided to go with the Holset HX40 Turbo with the Bullseye Power housing, Also getting a Turbonetics Godzilla BOV..my threadstone exhaust manifold has a 38mm wastegate port but i think i am going to stick with the internal 38mm set at or around 15-18psi. hopefully build will be done by March

I did some research on these a long time ago too. These are the major differences...

DSMLink - You need an e-prom
ECU+ - You don't need an e-prom

DSMLink - You get a stutterbox and adjustable redline
ECU+ - You don't get a stutterbox and adjustable redline

Both control timing and fuel.
Both allow you to use a wideband.

With the ECU+ you don't have to buy or make an o2 simulator if you have a cat.

ECU+ is cheaper than DSMLink (after you add the cost of e-prom).

so which one did you end up going with and how is it working? I don't mind spending a few more dollars to buy the EPROM but as long as DSMlink is well worth the money

Neither. I've decided to go with a custom map Stage III DSMchip and an AFPR.
