Do I have limited slip? (95 Talon)

I am pretty sure the GSX's came standard with read LSDs in 95's and 96's, and they were optional on 97-98 and were standard again in 99. I am not too sure on the TSi AWD though. Could be different.

I've also read on here that when the car is in the air and you spin one of the rear wheels then if the other rear wheel spins the same way you have a LSD and if it spins the opposite way then you have an open diff.

The edmunds list may only apply to the center differential. It is not exactly specific or comprehensive.

What you've said about the wheels turning the same way is true and an easy way to find out.

You should have a sticker in your drivers side door jamb, though that doesn't mean it couldn't have been changed. The differential itself should say LSD on it if it is (pretty sure that applies to 2G's as well). You'll also notice, if you idle your car in gear while it's jacked up that the wheels will slow or stop with very little pressure if you have an open differential. You can compare front to rear.

Well im 95% sure the car is completely stock. So i doubt it has been changed. But ill look at the door jam and see. Thanks!

If you think of anything else, please let me know!

I'm pretty sure, atleast with the 1g's, that if you have an ABS equipped car, you could not get the lsd. But if you don't have abs, like myself, you could have the lsd. And yes, the best place to check is the door jam. Kind of a amusing label, i think, says "warning"...LOL.

Mine has an LSD, but there was no sticker in the door jamb. This is the best way to tell:

That was only in the first 2 years.

eclipsegsx1736 has got the right idea. I didn't want to try and describe it, but look at the picture and compare to your own differential. 5 seconds under the car should cover you. Maybe a little more if it's real dirty :)

ok then explain this to me. my car has the abs as well as the orange sticker in the door saying i have an lsd. 92 laser rs awd. some 1gas came with both if i am not mistaken?

So then please explain what it means if you have an LSD rear end and your tires spin in the opposite direction when in the air; or even when you spin one tires, the other side doesn't spin at all until a few rotations later?

deadly blaze...Well it depends on what kind of LSD you have. Sorry if it was mentioned before im not sure what lsd style we have in our dsms. (i would read the rest of the thread but i cant read to well righ tnow.. Welding w/o a mask.) But if it is like a torsen lok. (worm gear style) it only applys power to both wheels only under load. if its a clutch style lsd well then the clutches are going. but i dont think it is a clutch style...

[DSMs use only viscous couplers for limited slip.]
