Winnipeg,
Hi, something really weird happened. Okay i changed my battery like 2 days ago and everything was running fine. Then today i was driving it started idling weird. Then it just started to bog, all interior lights got dimme, power steering got a little tighter, SRS and engine light appear, Deck not working, also turbo misfires and i can bbarely accelerate i barely made it home. The car can't even accelerate either. I'am thinkin either alternator or ecu or something electrical. Its weird like all interior lights are dimmed its fluctuates very weird, turbo misfires, can't even accelerate...... please help me guys!!!! I'm so confused right now is it the alernator or ecu or what?! LOST   Its just waiting in the garage right now......

Do you have a front strut bar? If so, the positive terminal is more than likely grounding out on it. If you dont, the new battery may be grounding out on the bottom of the hood itself. Check it and if that is the problem, fix it before your car goes up in flames like a lot of others I have seen or heard about.

I don't have a front strut bar, how do i check if its grounding out....... also my alternator was replaced last year. I just wanna know how i check if ts grounding on the hood.....

thanks

If you dont see a mark, open your hood (leave it open) and start the car. See how she runs.

Make sure the terminals on the battery are clean and tight.

Okay i'll try these things i really hope thats just the problem...but the battery i got did seem a little bigger then my other one..... Also whats the battery size for the talon....

make sure your alternator belt is still on , and if it is there make sure its tight, if not it will slip and possibly it will make a squeeling noise but mabye not ... when you put the new battery in did you charge it? most new batteries require a good charge before used alot

If your battery isn't grounding out I would agree with the alternator belt, see if it's still on and also check your alternator tensioner, the bolt on mine broke last year and it sounds like similar symptoms!

If everything looks good it could still be the alternator. If the alternator is taking a crap you can take it somewhere like pep boys and get it checked.

Okay so where is the alternator belt and how can i tighten it is there a website of pics and what not.....sorry for being a newb. Is it the belt thats is visible on the right side of the engine? How do i tighten it?

Hrmmz.. Well when my turbo misfires I usually check my turbo spark plugs to see if they are fouled. LOL I would check to see if your connections are good when you put your battery on.. Clean them up and make sure that you put the terminals down all the way and that it makes a secure connection.

same thing happened to me. my alternator belt was broken and i replaced it but didnt tighten it down enough and it flew off the I-5 while i was driving...same stuff happened to me...just check your alternator belt and make sure it is tight enough...if i had my camera, I'd go take a pic of my engine bay and PS it...

Just because the alternator is only a yr old doesnt mean it isnt bad. If the batterie is not grounding out and the belt is there, then have the alternator tested. Do you have a sound sytem? because those will kill alternators fast.
Good chance the reason why your other batterie needed replacing,(other than age) is a bad alternator or one that randomly charges on and off.

Okay so i turned on the car with the hood up was running fine for about 2 min then SRS light showed up the headlights, interior lights all were dimmed.... then it started idling weird.... i think its alternator because when i changed mine last year it was used when my buddy installed it....:coy: Quick questiion do you guys think its the alternator? Also belt and everything is tighten..... i checked...

I believe its the alternator because you would see if the battery was arching on the hood and I had to change my alternator last summer and it sounds like the same thing with the lights dimming and it not having power...just bring it to a local shop and have them test it then go from there!!

Yes i do have a system but nothing crazy just a 1 12" type R sub and sony 1200 watt system but i guess in these cold winters doesn't really matter. I think its the alternator because everything esle fine belts and everything. Where a good/cheap place for a good alternator?

A cheap place would be like a discount auto parts, or advanced. Just make sure to check the fuse as stated before, because there was a time I thought my alternator was bad, and half way throught removing it I checked the fuse wich was blown causing the problem.

Hmmm where is the fuse box on the talon and which one is the alternator? Also what kind of fuse the Alternator takes.....? I will laugh if thats the problem....ROFL...

I was trying too pull it out but it ain't coming out is there tool or i just give her........

Okay this is getting really annoying i try take fuse off and a fuse should just come out right..... well this is fuse is being a B*******tch i'am even using plyers and its not coming out....... What you guys suggest?

NVM MIND GUYS THERE ARE SCREWS THAT HOLD IT DOWN...WOW I'AM STUPID....LOL.....

Also what kind of fuse it is..... 100v?

If it's the Alternator fuse it's not going to come out just by pulling it. Look for a screw with a nut holding the contacts of the fuse together at the bottom. Hope this helps.

It is a 100 amp fuse. I guess you found the 10mm head bolt that holds the fuse in, huh?;)
