I just rebuilt my engine about 400 miles ago when i sprang an oil leak in the oil filter bracket causing oil to get on the timing belt. I am about to replace the bracket and the gasket and was wondering if the belt needs to be replaced too? I know that the OEM belts get weaker with oil but does kevlar behave the same way? Also, i didnt replace the tensioner when i did the belt. It seemed to be tight. Will this be ok for a few thousand miles until i have the time to replace it too? Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure about kevlar with oil. I know when the normal timing belts get oil on them it causes them to glaze. But it is highly recommended that you replace the tensioner with the timing belt. It might be okay it might not. From my own experiance it is a 50/50 chance
