What cuases an automatic in a 93 tsi awd to slip partially to not at all when cold ,but slip completely once it warms up? My two guesses are torque converter or clutch packs. I know little about the autos and I'm looking into purchasing a car cheap with a bad trans but other wise its fantastic. If you have the cost of parts you think it is that be great too.

It can be a number of things that makes AT slip, it can be from fluid to internal damage.

It could be the clutch packs , but its realy hard to say. My old accord did that, it was something inside the trans that went. Your best bet is to take it to a trans shop other then AAMCO if you can.
