in the 2g when the center console is removed, there is a little light bulb, where the ashtray is. my question is could i splice into those wires for my boost gauge? if so there is a green and white one and a black. i know that the black is for my ground, would the green and white one be where i tap in for my 12v? thanks people

im just doing it on the pillar, i heard of going to the fuse box, im just really terrible when it comes to electrical garbage, and dont know how to do it

what i did was just run the ground to a reliable grounding point then ran the power down to the little fuse box under the dash and wrapped the skinned wire around one of the little fuse post or teeth on one of the fuses. I used the ligher fuse because its only on when the car is in accessory mood. The only down side to this is that when the fuse blows, its a pain to take the fuse out and re wrap the wire around one of the teeth.

sorry to ask this, but where is there going to be a reliable ground? so the 12v goes and wraps around the one of the teeth on a fuse in the fuse box, i tried that, but did not have the ground wired, that was probably the reason it didnt work

Funny you say this but I used that exact same spot to get power for my boost gauge, the power going to the little light bulb for the ashtray, because it was just useless to me, but it worked just fine, just get a good ground, I drilled a hole in the metal next the the fusebox under the dash and just grounded it there.

I tapped mines to the defroster, when you pull the center vent theres a green wire with a stripe (forgot the color of the strip) boost gauge lights up when I turn the lights on.

I actually tapped into thios wire yesterday for the exact same reason to power the light on my boost gauge so the light in the gauge comes on with the parking/headlights the green wire is positive and black ground just splice it in and your good

thanks guys, i didnt want to do tap into my radio, like someone had told me to do, but im going to try it all today. thanks

you dont need the ashtray light anyway i threw that shit out and just replaced the light with the wires from the boost gauge

well, the directions that came with it, ya i read them, ha, it says orange to 12v, black to ground, and red to ignition swith. do i need the ignition one, i dont want it on all the time

its a glowshift(glowshit), tinted series. i dont want to get another, i got it from my little brother for christmas, and i would feel like an ass if i went and got an autometer

ok then forget the ashtry light cause ## gauge wires differently then the autometer i have your gonna have to tap the wires behind the radio one for 12v constant(red with black stripe) and the other for 12v switched(blue) and black can go to a good ground source

damn i was hoping i didnt have to, is there another way, or do u think i should go get the autometer from autozone for 60, and if he asked just tell him the one he got me didnt work

dont waste the money. its not that hard to get the center console and radio out to get at the wires. 6 screws gets the console out and another 4 gets the radio out. its a 5 minute job

i know, i just dont want to mess up and then not have a radio. is splicing them the best way to go? ### i was planning on cutting the wires, then grouping them and caping. but i think that would be where i would run into problems

allright man im going to go get that, and try it, i thank you for all the help. if i dont hear from you anymore, happy newyear

Run the gauge's light off that wire, don't run the 12v source off that wire though.
