Yesterday, i was checking my fuel pump, because im experiencing a low fuel pressure issue, and near the pump outsite, there's a little green piece that looks like a smal plastic fuel filter, it attached in between 2 hoses. I took it out, and i could blow air with my mouth, but when i tried to suck it, it just kinda closed. I opened this thing up, and it had a spring inside, and i lost the spring. Now when i turn on the car there's some gas odor inside the car. What part is it? MB504075, where can i find it? is just a simple filter? what's the function of it? do i need it at all?

Car is 91 eclipse GSX, I have been searching for the last few days and have found many topics on the blue fuel tank check valve but no one says which direction it should be pointing. My fuel pump went out and I pulled the blue check valve off to inspect it. I was pissed and in a hurry so I didn't pay attention to which direction it was pointing before I unhooked it. When I went to put it back on is when I noticed there was an arrow on it. Please let me know if the arrow should point towards the front or the rear of the car. thanks
