Engine codes for DSM's

I was just wondering if DSM's carry a certain engine # to identify them like hondas have B20,B16 and so on.

Only number i could find was on the tranny and its W5M332WPGE
SB0386

Just thought this might help me identify my engine and tranny ( i bought a car that supposed to have Evo III engine and tranny).

We do its called a 4g63. That pic is so small how can we tell you anything. There nothing special about a jdm motor like with a honda. There is no difference in that motor and the stock one except for the intake manifold and maybe something else minor.

Well thats the only pic i could post and there is a bit of a difference, about 50 to 60 hp on a stock motor. Compression is higher and the manifold is alot better than a Stock 4G63 and i am not sure what else.






But anyway thanks for the reply, i am just trying to figure out if i have a Evo block and transmission that i was told was in the car when i bought it.

If you have an evo trans the gearing will be different you would have to have a evo 3 rear end as well. Why not asking what rear end is in it. I'm sure someone knows a way to tell the diff. I really don't think the difference is 50 to 60 hp just on the motor. Maybe if you have the evo 3 16g with it as well.

LoL ya thats true maybe i should take a look at the rear end and get some numbers off it to see if i can search and find any info on it.

yeah theres engine codes as well as chassis codes.

420a, 4g63 engine codes as compared to the honda.

He was asking if there were engine codes that tell different variations of the 4g63 not about the 420a. There is not a differnce in the engine code to tell the difference in different 4g63's. Every company has engine codes, but like the b18a1 and b18c1 there isnt a 4g63a1 or whatever
