hi all ! im new to the 4g63 motor, i have a 99 eclipse gs, and just picked up a 95 talon tsi awd for 1500$ , and just wondering what you guys recomend right off the bat to get some more power, the car has nothing done to it.

95 for 1,500. If i were you i would wait on the performance and start on mat. you won't regret fixing old parts and things that will break trust me. If not you can't go wrong with a downpipe and catback or intake.

Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance. Check compression, check cylinder leak down, check timing belts both A & B, get datalogger, check out oil and fluid leaks Know what you got before you decide where to go. The DSM's are great cars and a lot of fun but not if your always fixing things because they were tired in the begining. It is one thing breaking something you know is questionable and having to put time and money into it, it's another thing to having things constantly breaking because they weren't checked or are to tired to be pushed. The car becomes an experience in frustration and drudgery, no fun. A DSM is always more fun driving than fixing. Fix first so you can drive more:)

thanks for all the responses its very much appreciated, ill start with maintance and continue from there, there is a check engine light on but advanced auto said it was just an o2 sensor and the girl i bought it off gave me one with the car.. so i guess its just the matter of putting it in.. i had no idea that there was a million things to check on these cars my gs never had any problems, so today i guess ill start with the plugs and wires , oil, and fluids , compression, since its awd do you know what i should look for withe the transfer case drive shaft and rear end????? thanks for all the help you guys are awesome!!!

check for any fluid leaking from the transfer case, it is a known problem area for failure, there was a tsb on the transfercases in dsms and in 3000gts for bearing failure.

once u get it straightened out once u learn the vehicle limits for power with stock set ups and such u can always put a mbc in it to get a couple more ponies... however if u don't have experiance with it u can cost urself an engine... as of right now im flirting with engine limits running 17psi through my stock fuel system... 15psi is a fairly safe limit however

This was a recall by NASTB if there is a problem here you may be able to get it fixed for free from dealer. This was a safety issue when the rear seal leaked and lost all of the fluid the car would lock up and could send you into uncontrolled spin.

Good Luck
