hi i have an 91 eagle talon tsi and i was going to pick up an exhaust kit off the sight and it comes with a high flow cat, i live in ca so the smog rules are strict, would i still be able to pass smog with the high flow cat on? thank you

Sure it's possible to pass, but it depends on a whole lot of factors. Depends on the quality of the cat, and more importantly the exhaust that your engine puts out. Slapping on a high flow cat by itself doesn't mean you'll pass smog.

It also totally depends on who is doing the smog test and how strict they are. I think (fine banned phrase) changing a working cat is illegal.

Yea changing a working cat is technically very illegal. But to answer your question, if you get a 50 state legal catalytic converter there will be much better chances that you pass than with a non 50 state legal cat.

i have the magnaflow cat also, and it passed fine. they dont care if its high flow, cause it still does the same thing, just flows more fuel. just warm it up better for the tailpipe test.
