Right after I start my 95 Eagle Talon Esi w/ a 420a engine, the temp gauge will peg out when I press the gas peddle and seems to show more how much i'm pressing the gas than the coolant temperature. I thought it might be the coolant temperature sensor, so I replaced that, and it still has the same problem. I'm thinking it's not accurately showing the engine temperature because there's no boiling coolant, it does it immediately after start up, and the engine doesn't seem to even be warm yet. Any idea what to do next?

Make sure your water pump didn't lock up on you. My water pump went out on my talon and everytime I rev'd the temp sensor would jump. Basically when you rev the engine heats up. It will get hot very fast if the water pump went out. (I have a feeling since you are in UTAH that if you immediatly start it cold and this happens its not the water pump.)

It's going to be an electrical problem as Defiant stated. Not a mechanical. Check all of your wires running to and from the CTS.
