I do seem to have a problem with idle, a little bouncy. Did the test from:
http://dmtalon.v8eaters.com/ISC.html
Though the ohm's aren't in the desired range, they are 44ohm across 1-6.... and when i did the 6v battery test, I did hear a noise come from it.

Do i know it's bad just from doing the first test?

It's very odd that you would get exactly 44 ohms on each terminal pair. you should get some variation from coil to coil. Plus, the 44 ohms is out of spec.

I guess I could test it by unplugging the ISC while idling and see if it makes a diffrence?
Isn't that the real way of knowing if it's working?

44ohms is out of spec. This is likely the cause for your idle issues.

You can get a used one for $25 shipped and guaranteed to work from http://www.throttlebodys.com/DSMTBs.htm - same guy who does a wonderful job porting our TBs to 63mm.

Thank you very much! That's a great price for a ISC motor tested working!

Hmm, how big of a drop in idle should i expect when disconnecting the isc motor while motor is on? When i disconnect it, idle drops by 100 rpm from the constant yet bouncy 1200 it's usually at. Is it safe to say my motor is dead?

I thought we already established your ISC motor was dead a few posts back. Did you buy a new one and did that not solve the probloem? If you havent replaced it yet, 44ohms is still out of spec.

I will be replacing it, just trying to figure out whether to go with a 1g tb or just get a new isc.

Hi DSM'ers
Just saw this thread so wanted to mention that the price on ISCs is $35 now.
I didn't like trying to do this on the cheap by mailing them in bubble pack envelopes :( so now I'm taking them them to the PO and mailing them in Priority Mail boxes.
The good news is they'll get there quicker and arrive in good shape. :thumb:
TPS sensors will still be shpd in bubblepack envelopes (until there's a problem)
Thanks
Steve

Thanks for the update Steve - that's still not a bad price. I only wish I was aware of your business when my ISC needed replacing - instead, I got stuck for $70 on ebay! Since then, I have been spreading the word!

PS: Do you offer a price break on your rebuilt 63mm tbs for dsmtuner members?

Well, Besides doing little freebie things all the time (which I don't care to mention so as not to get ppl started taking advantage of those freebies) I'm actually absorbing some real losses without going up in price now.

I won't go into the losses in detail but they mainly involve occaisional low quality TB castings that wind up in my scap aluminum box. I run into them from most all makes though the DSM castings are the best grade of aluminum of any that I work. :thumb:

I will promise you that each TB that goes out of my shop will be machined & fit up to the best tolerances that I'm able to put out. No shortcuts taken and only top quality parts & materials used. Stainless screws & washers go into each TB FIAV section. Also OEM Gaskets, Chicago Rawhide seals, New BISS screws, etc. If you send your TB with the sensors, they'll get tested too. Throttle bodys are all I do here so this is not a sideline.

Thanks for the forum here and the great source of information on these DSMs. I'm still in the learning curve somewhat about what model came with which motor so please bear with me there.
Thanks again,
Steve

I understand and appreciate the honest response. Next time my car is down for repairs / upgrade, im going to remember to send you my tb for a much needed rebuild (leaky seals).

44 ohms on all the windings wouldn't cause me to discard an ISC. The spec for the original version used on DSMs has a temp requirement. The readings will change with temp.
The newer black top version that Doggo sells also has a different set of specs. In the end you don't want any shorted windings and winding higher than spec will be weak steps but usually work until the winding goes open.

Steve, I am very excited to send out my old TB to you.
Ive read all about your work online and am very anxious to send it.
Now that i know you test all the sensors and replace if needed with working ones i am even more excited to ship out my old unit.
you will be seeing my business very soon.

siceclipse,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I will definately try to earn it too.
If you send a TB to me for machining and I find that a sensor is bad, I'll cut a deal with you on the price. That's an open offer to all DSM Tuner members. Half price on sensors if yours are bad when I work your TB.
Thanks again,
Steve
