ok so i just got my car back from getting my coil pack replaced, and it still runs like crap. it feels like theyres something holding it back i dont know what it could be, please help this car is going to be the death of me... is there ANYONE near zip code 12501 amenia new york thats not going to charge me an arm and a leg to find out whats wrong with my car?!!?? :(

Can you be more specific with your issue? When did it start, what are the symptoms, etc. Give us more to go on than just "something is holidng it back".

need more info. has the motor been changed, parts swaped, etc.

but things to check

is the catalitic converter clogged this will slow the revs tramendiously.
also when I picked up my car it would not rev and took forever to build boost.
so I pulled the turbo and the wastegate was adjusted wrong and was never shut all the way. so I shimed it and problem solved.

the mechanic said thats not the transistor isnt the problem, he said theyres deff something wrong but to find out what it is i have to pay like 175 dollars and im poor hah, well like when i get on the throttle it doesnt pull hard, its an automatic but it just wont sit me back in my seat liek it used to. The brakes also feel inadequate...i think i need a new MAF too, just great:mad:

Sounds like you are not actually hitting fuel cut,
look here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186971
it will all but die for a second then come back to life when you hit fuel cut.

sounds like you just have a "no power" problem,
have you went thru the basic tune up steps on this site?

have you change your fuel filter?

Checked for a cloged cat

is your boost building fast? a stocker should.

well its not boosting hard at all, this all just started happening too i really want to find out whats wrong, i think it might have something to do with my maf too im not sure yet though how do i check and see if its working properly? the maf i mean

i've spent the last 15 minutes looking for a "test the maf" thread. no luck yet
but nearly every one ends up being a boost leak problem.
if you havent performed a good boost leak check yet "dont trust the mechanic their job is to make money fixing cars, not all are honest"
do a boost leak check. even if you dont believe you have one

First thing to do is a boost leak test. Second, pull the intake hose off the turbo and check it for play. (A little side to side is ok, but any in and out is bad) Third, do a compression test. Harbor Freight sells compression testers for about $10. Check all these and get back to us and we can help you diagnose from there.

You will never find out what's wrong by going at it with a shotgun approach and being unwilling to spend money for parts and labor. If you paid for a new coil to fix the problem and it did not, then take it back and insist on a refund for the part because your coil was obviously good. If you cannot do any diagnosis or repair work yourself then paying a shop for service is the only option left. Just be sure to find a shop that you trust.

I think that Autozone may be able to test the transistor module (free) but not sure. Maybe you should check on that.

hey thanks for the suggestions guys ill look at it this weekend, and sorry about the crappy title defiant, i was POed it wont happen again LOL
