Ok, so a right after I bought my car i was inspecting the Dics brakes so i started to disassemble everything and lube the slibers and checks pads and what not. Well I got to the rotors and i couldnt get them off. I tapped them slightly with a big ball peen hammer no such luck. I then progresses to a big slide hammer, still nothing. At this point I was royally pissed off so I got a really big sledge hammer and beat the living crap out of the damn thing and it still wouldnt come off. So my question is there a different procedure to get off DSm rotors than another car? Or are they just rusted on?
 
Hey I never thought of that. My friends GVR-4 rotors didnt have the little hole tapped all the way. We couldnt figure how to get them off. Now that you said this, im going to try that. So you used the caliper bracket bolt holes to push from the inside?
 
Yeah, I'm not sure how they line up. I think you can get both on there and walk it off (turn one a little, then the other). You just get a good size bolt and matching nut (washers help), put the nut on the inside, and thread the bolt through so it pushes against the rotor. Of course this is only a good idea if you plan on scrapping the rotor as the bolts will damage it.
 
Get one of the red bottle torches from autozone or advance. Heat the hub portion of the rotor.

Also, the easiest way is to thread a bolt into the hole. That coupled with a little heat should pop it right off.
 
You could cut stress reliefs in the rotor with a die grinder. This does take some skill not to cut into the hub, cenrtric ring, or studs. Cut at an angle from the from the center to the outside of the face of the rotor. I have had good results removing stuck rotors without the threaded bolt holes using this method.
 
My rotors were a HUGE Pita to get off...

Methods I used:
BFH- beat on them quite thoroughly
threaded holes on the rotor
Strut moutning bolts and nuts threaded throught the caliper mounting bracket on the knuckle.
torch
more BFH
more bolts pushing outwords.
cursing
more BFH
more cursing.
more BFH- oh wow, one actually came loose. Time to repeat on the other side.
 
Mke sure you clean the rust and original corosion that the rotors were stuck originally on.Because im sure your going to replace these rotors since you beat the crap out of them. or at least resurface them if there salvagable.Because if you dont clean the rust you will have pulsation wheather rotors are new or old.. happy hunting
 
just use two bolts in those holes, torque em both, it will pop off.....My calipers were locked up on it and the bolt got those off within a few turns.....Easiest route.

Otherwise use a 20 pound sledge, well, if you get mad at least.:beatentodeath:
