hey guys im new to this forum but not new to cars i currently own a GC8 V5 STi and am going to be gettin in the seat of a 97 GSX with 88xxx miles on it. I just wanted to know what kind of mechanical problems i sould be expecting and if its worth gettin into. the person that i am buying it from is an adult and has owned the car for quite some time, never seems to race it and takes nice care of it. Myself i am a subaru mechanic (on the side) and love em, but i need a change of scenery, so im debating on purchasing a GSX. I was thinking that once i purchase the car i would redo all off the gaskets and such... i was wondering how much that would run me..

if our wanting stock power.
about 100 bucks give or take a little for a complete engine gasket set. 100+ for timing belt. 70 for belt tensioner. 100 for oil pump. 30 for water pump. its up to you though on how much you want to do.

If you want more power.Plan plan plan research research research, and do what you want to the car all at one time. It will save you hassels and headaches.
