Throttle body question.

Ok, I bought a 3" accufab throttle body for my magnus SMIM. I had the throttle cable braket from my stock tb welded onto the accufab one.

Apparently, they melted the seal on the inside of the tb when they welded it on there. It whistles like a huge vacuum leak and I can tell that it's coming from the tb.


So, I'm about at wit's end, and was wondering either

1. Where can I get new seals, or

2. Where can I get a 3" throttle body, that already has the throttle cable braket attached?

It souns like your throttle body seals - mine need replacing as well but here is a link with instructions on swaping them out:

I actually have the 3" accufab one, so would the same seals work?


But I ripped off my throttle body, and was looking at the block off plate, and realized that it was probably where it was leaking from. I bought it used ..

So I'm going to have to redo that plate.

AAh...To be honest I don't think those seals will work, however I would suggest reading this article: http://www.dvdtfab.com/accufabsucks.htm

Sounds like the same thing happened to you (read 1st paragraph) but the article gets better as you scroll down. Judging from this person's experience perhaps you should ditch the accufab and get something else. Just a thought...

What other throttle body can I get to match up to the magnus SMIM that's flanged for a 3" tb?

A cheaper alternative would be to determine exactly what flange you have on your IM and get a cheap TB that matches it from a junk yard / used online (IE: Ford 5.0L 75mm throttle body, Ford 4.6L 75mm throttle body, Nissan Q45)

But seriously? I dont mean to rag on you but have you researched anything on this topic? I would think that someone who invests $660 in an intake manifold would know where to get a matching throttle body!

Anyhow, I hope you get this situation resolved and up and running soon!
EDIT: If not, lets make a trade, ive got a stock turbo intake manifold and can get whatever TB you want to use with it.

I don't think I'm being clear. I have a 3" accufab throttle body i.e. 75 mm mustang throttle body. I was assuming that I was having an air leak from the seals, when I had the throttle cable braket welded on. Apparently, the isc block off plate on the bottom of the tb was leaking out air instead of the seals themselves.

I had a new block off plate made to fix the problem.

I got the 3" throttle body, and magnus smim for 295 shipped and it had never been used. (not 660)
