heres the settings on my super afc

Rpm set

800 +13
2400 -8
4000 -15
5600 -28
7200 -28

Any reason you're +13% at 800rpm with 550's?

How did you come up with those base settings?

As I'm becoming more familiar with DSMLink, I have noticed that LTFT/STFT base idle trim tuning is extremely important. Go back and get your base idle settings and cruise settings corrected before you go tuning. On 550's start -10% and tune your LTFTs to a stable 0% or close to it. You will probably end up somewhere in the -18% on your SAFC with 550's, but of course every car is different.

Then go back and add fuel. You're tuning backwards, you should be starting extremely rich and work your way towards being lean. Once you get your LO's all dialed in, get your HI's starting at -15% and tune from there. Do you have a wideband? Tuning with SAFC/logger is a million times easier with a wideband on tap.

Looks like you are really rich down low and really lean up top. O2 voltage is at .66 at 6600 rpms which is way to low. You want to try to shoot for around .92 on a 2G while trying to keep the timing as smooth as possible. Any sudden jump in timing is usually a good sign that there is knock.

I agree with blcknspooln that you are tuning backwards. Always start rich and work your way down. You reduce the risk of melting a piston.

thanks guys im new at tuning with this safc, this is the previous owners settings. im not sure why thats so high maybe because it was venting when i got it? i will do like you say and tune the cruise first..

also any input on me possibly picking up a PLX M500?

A buddy of mine has the plx and i have the aem uego....We both like the AEM better. It reacts faster than the PLX and Im fairly certain it is cheaper now as well.

You are definately pulling a lot of timing at 5000 and up. Tuning with a narrow band is almost impossible. I can have my settings all the same and have back to back pulls read .90 and .86 on the narrow band even though the wideband was reading a steady 11 to 1 on both.

hows the portability of the aem, is it fairly easy to uninstall and use in another car or would this be very permanent and what do u use to log with? thanks
