So I broke my valve cover for my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi trying to change my PCV valve to keep my dip stick from blowing out... anyways I need to get a new one so I was going to try to hit up the wrekers tommorow, which cars are compatable? Is it only the 90-92's, or can I put a later model valve cover on? Any help would be appreciated

Cheers
Kev

so a 4g63t engine is in all dsm's from 90-95? Thanks for the quick responses by the way I really appreciate it

Kev

Ya I actually ended up putting a hyundai valve cover on, I couldn't find any dsm's at the wrecker... non at all, but the hyundai one does fit, but it seems to be leaking from the oil filler cap now. I was just thinking of ordering one of those cheap ebay caps to solve that, unless they don't work

Anyways thanks again

The eBay caps perfectly replicate the leaking.
A real, genuine factory cap is something like six bucks at the dealer. If you have the Hyundai cover, it's recommended you use a Hyundai cap- there may be casting thickness differences there, too.
Some recommend using a double-gasket; I don't.

Is there a difference between the turbo/non turbo oil cap, because the vc I got is off of a non turbo engine, that was why I figured it is leaking in the first place, but you guys think I should get one from Hyundai?

just curious, what's wrong with 2 gaskets? or bending the tabs a little? an oil filler cap isn't a highly engineered product, if you can make it so it doesn't leak then it's doing it's job right? what else matters?

Leak paths. To start, you can leak between the cap and the gasket, or the cover and the gasket. Adding a gasket adds a leak path, between the gaskets.
or bending the tabs a little?
Because they aren't likely to hold the tension. They can bend back. They can fail, and drop a very hard bit of metal onto the valvetrain.
an oil filler cap isn't a highly engineered product,
Uh, I disagree.

Using the right part for the job. As stated, check the thickness of the Hyundai valve cover where the filler cap seals. It's may not be the same as the Mits. If not, you'll need a Hyundai cap.

Well I picked one up today from parts source and it seems to be working so far at least, in their part book they have the talon ones and the hyundai ones listed as the same cap, so they seem to be the same but you never know, anyways thanks again for your help, one leak down about a dozen more to go (I forgot how much fun it is to own an older turbo charged car..... ughhh)
