Fall/Winter plans for an engine build.
I just bought a 90 TSI AWD w/ 137k miles. I am planning on doing an engine rebuild and making it a drag car. I have a few questions about using the same engine parts that came out of that car.
For example..
Would i be able to use the same 1g Big Rods?
Is it recommended to replace the rods/pistons after so many miles?
As far as pistons go im pretty sure i want to go with wiseco .020 over.
Clevite Bearings,
ARP all around,
Mitsu 4 layer HG,
Mitsu timing belt,
New oil pump,
Balanceshaft removal kit,
and other misc gaskets.

Im on a Budget here so im looking for the cheapest way to build a 6 bolt without puting a deep hole in my pocket. If you guys know of a cheaper way please let me know..
thanks

Im a fan of a built 2.0. I like the fact of being able to take it 9K, granted you can make power that high.

Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Pick two, the third one you wont have.

A drag only car but using 1G big rods? You may as well spend the extra $$ and get some forged rods.

I'd also replace the water pump, get new valves and do a valve job. Since the head will be off anyway, no point in not dropping new valves in.
