I was rebuilding my motor due to a knock and *certain* rpms (if i was at wot it did not knock), i pulled the rod bearings out to find that they looked ok, i pulled the #1 piston out and when i did half a ring fell to the floor, the piston was broke in a few spots too, it messed up my cyl wall pretty bad too, this is where all my bad blow by was coming from, well now that this happed this changes all my plans about rebuilding the engine using the stock parts, luckly some guy near me has a long block with 70k for $300! So i will get that a rebuild that one. The pistons below have 180k miles on them!!!!

That thing must of had some serious knock to break the ring landings like that. Good luck on the rebuild.

Do you think the knock could have come from that piston? It sounded like a rod knock but the rod bearings looked ok.

If you are talking about the rod bearing that is in the pic, it doesn't look ok to me. It has a scratch or piece of metal in the center there and I can no tell if that is oil or chared there also. Have you checked the other bearings and rods? Let me know and I will get back to you. Sorry it took so long also. Hope this helps.

I once pulled apart a block and had 3 of the pistons missing ring lands like that. What was your compression before you pulled them? The block should still be salvagable it you decided to bore it out, if not $300 is a good deal on a running longblock.

Well the other beaings looked ok but the bearings on the number 3 piston are a sark blue and so is the crank (on the #3) but i got the long block yesterday for $300 and pulled it apart to find metal shavings in the oil pan, I pulled the pistons out and they looked good so did the bearings, i pulled the mains and the outer ones were PERFECT but the middle one and two inboards were trashed, looked like lack of oil, the block is good but do you guys think ill be ok on just putting new main and rod bearings in there? I already ordered new std bearings from sbr and they are on the way so I cant really turn the crank at this point. The crank looks good, no deep marks or scratches at all, just the bearings are gone!
