I had clutch problems before and put a new CFDF clutch kit, ACT flywyheel, Master and Slave cylinders in my car about 2,000 miles ago. Within the last couple of days, the problem I had when the first clutch went out is reoccurring:

When I run the car for 1/2 hr. or so (interstate driving, minimal shifting) the clutch pedal seems to build up a LOT of pressure (throughout the entire traveling distance, not only at the top or bottom) to the point where it does not disengage. I have stopped the car and looked to see if the Slave was moving and it was it's normal ~.5", but the clutch still does not disengage.

The kicker: When I let the car sit for a day and came back with a trailor, the pedal was FINE - no excess pressure. After driving behind the trailor for 1/2 hour or so, it pressurized again and we had to load it up on the trailor.

I have looked into pedal pump-up and have my upper stop on my clutch pedal set all the way up. There are no fluid leaks in the clutch system.

Yes and Yes.

Adjusted and replaced pretty much everything before I resorted to having to pull the tranny again. Will be done pulling in about 1/2 hour... an update to follow.

Also - does anyone know what the 1"x4" cylinder bolted to the tranny is just before the Slave Cylinder? It is in the clutch line and is the only part between the clutch pedal and clutch fork that has not been replaced or adjusted yet.

Diagnosis:

NAPA left a couple of thousandths of a ridge on the outer edge of the flywheel when they surfaced it (they didn't go completely out to the edge) which caused the friction disk to be moody as hell when it DID sit, and not sit perfectly square on the flywheel. This caused the pressure plate to sit a bit crooked which caused the throwout bearing to ride crooked on the sleeve in the transmission bell housing. After about 5000 miles of wear, the throwout bearing started scraping a slight indentation in the bell housing sleeve (and thrashed the inside of the throwout bearing) until it finally started binding up when the clutch was depressed.

Unfortunately, I have learned (on Tuners, of course) that that sleeve is not a replacable part, so I am either A) going to risk a new throwout bearing, use a lot of grease, and hope for the best, B) Have a machine shop try and fix the sleeve, or C) hope that someone has a bell housing available.

Just wanted to do a follow-up to let everyone know about this problem. An yes, I am pissed at the retard at Napa who didn't inspect his work after resurfacing my flywheel - even though I should have caught something like that, I shouldn't have to!
