Hey guys sloppy idle concern here. Fresh rebuild and I do have an SAFC II and Data Logger. After starting the car it will run between 700-950 rpms. Then when I ground the timing adjustment terminal it will settle down to around 750. Set the base timing @ 5* with the timing terminal grounded and adjusted the BISS so that the idle was right at 750. Then when I take the jumped wire out it jumps up to around 1400 rpms and hangs on there. What am I missing? Any suggestions?

Is it possible the BISS is leaking or something? Someone at work mentioned that to me.

How long does it do it for? Does it stop after the car warms up or does it do it all throughout when you are driving. If it stops when it warms up it is usually the Fast Idle Air Valve. Are you sure you grounded it correctly though. Everytime I had set base timing I unplugged the connector by the battery and set the timing and didn't have to adjust the idle. Can you hear air escaping from the BISS and does it do anything when you adjust it after you set timing.

After the car is warmed up it still does it, the idle remains that high its really really weird. I kept waiting for it to come back down ya know. I just clip to the connector and put the other click on the negative battery post. I cant hear any air coming out of the BISS.

Are you remembering to disconnect the datalogger while your setting the timing?
You can't have pin 10 on the DLC grounded during the timing adjustment or you won't really be adjusting the timing.

Yea I had a hard time adjusting my base timing too after the rebuild. My datalogger was one of the culprits.

I'm sorry, what's this mean?

Sorry bad explanation. I have a dock for the palm(set it in the dock to charge it or connect to the car, palm IIIc). I just meant I disconnected the dock cable is all.
