I have a walkbro255 and RC 550s installed and I have noticed some people say it is required to have a AFPR? just wondering what the story is behind that? Why?

With the 255lph, you're overrunning your stock fuel pressure regulator. With too much fuel pressure, you run the risk of running way too rich. Even a rewired 190lph pump will overrun the stock FPR, though.

The best thing to do would be to get a 1:1 AFPR (Aeromotive, Buschur, etc) and dial your fuel pressure back to the stock specifications.

ahh I see. WHen I got this car from the previous owner he said he has a rewire kit for my fuel pump, whats that for?

The stock voltage feed for the fuel pump doesn't provide the full volts, so when you rewire the fuel pump you're using a bigger gauge wire and that helps the fuel pump perform better.

A FPR kit isn't cheap, but the sooner you get it the better, you could be running way to rich like stated above, and you'll eventually foul the plugs and maybe even your o2 sensor causing your to run like crap and waiste alot of fuel for no reason. so for the sake of a good running car try to get this soon.

alright sounds good. anything special I need to get? or just grab an afpr from someone like aeromotive along with a gauge? do I need some fittings or anything is it going to come with everything i need?

I found the ss return line kit with aeromotive afpr and fittings for 250 a rip?(from slowboy)

A lot of the DSM stores sell kits that include everything you need to go from the fuel rail, to the AFPR, and to the return line. Most sell the kit in either stainless or push-lock type hoses and fittings.

Not trying to favor a single vendor, but SBR has both pics up.

Another problem if u don't use a AFPR u could eventually wash the cylinder walls and piston rings. Thats like worse case scenario at idle.

Thats what really concerns me. The car has run a total of like 45 minutes since the rebuild. Think this extra fuel would have ruined anything yet? I dont think so, and I hope not. I ordered the AFPR kit.

Plenty of people run every day with just a 255lph pump and don't seem to suffer any ill effects. And that's actually part of the problem, much like venting the BOV to atmosphere, running an MBC off the BOV line, etc: People may not notice anything wrong with it or any negative effects on their car, even though bad things are actually happening. There are plenty of "I vent my BOV to atmo and don't have a problem" posts around here, just like there are probably plenty of "I run a 255 without an AFPR and don't have a problem" posts. But no one is actually inside the engine witnessing what's going on. So they can't really be sure how their engine or performance is really being affected.

That you notice what people say, that you're concerned about running your car right, and that you took the intiative to rectify the situation speaks highly of how much you care about your car. Kudos. :thumb:
