I Have Been Having Problems With My Clutch Have Posted About It Here Already. It Just Makes A Loud Ticking And Knocking Noise When It Idles And Then Louder When It Is Being Revve Up. It Completely Subsides When I Push In The Clutch. So I Figured It Is Something In The Clutch, Pressure Plate Flywheel Throw Out Bearing Somehting Like That. I Figured Ssince I Am Going To Have To Take Of The Tranny That I Might As Well Install A New Clutch. I Would Like To Know What A Good Clutch Is For This Car(96 Gs-t) ?
I Dont Want One That Is Too Heavy As I Have Heard That That Increases The Risk Of Crankwalk(correct Me If That Is Not The Case). Any Sugestions? I Dont Want One That Is Going To Be Too Heavy And Not A Very Mushy Peddle At All Either. And A Lower Release Point Rather Than Higher.

Also Would It Make A Big Difference To Get A Light Weight Flywheel While I Am At It?

If Anyone Has Any Suggestions Or Anything About What Clutch To Go With Or If They Know Also About The Clutch Problem Let Me Know.

It Is Also Very Hard To Get Into First Now For Some Reason And The Clutch Sticks A Little When Releasing And Then Is Fine.

Thanks. ----ryan.

First are you sure that the ticking noise is not lifter tick?

If you are then your clutch might not be fully disengaging. Check your master and slave cylinders for leakage, bleed the lines or rebuild or replace if necessary. Also check for freeplay in the clutch pedal. Move your floormats too if you have them because they might be preventing the pedal from fully traveling.

Ok How Would I Check To See If It Is Lifter Tick? Would That Stop Ticking If I Pushed In The Clutch? And If It Were To Be Lifter Tick Is That Somehting Hard To Fix? Sorry Dont Know Anything About It. Let Me Know .. Thanks.

Lifter tick is caused by excessive wear and poor oil flow to original 4G63 lifters. The only way to fix it is to replace then with revised lifters. They can be purchased from most vendors for around $150. The sound is distinct and is very easy to tell it comes form the head.

Try bleeding your clutch system. There may be air in the fluid. Also, you can try adjusting your clutch pedal to engage at different points (to your personal preference). And if all else fails and you get a new clutch, my suggestion is the ACT 2100.
