Hey all. I've been a member of this community for a while but haven't stopped by lately because my poor '97 GS-T has been sitting for the last 8 months due to a blown tranny. ANYway, I found a killer deal on a transmission (local) but it's from a 1G GS-T. My question is this, I know they both are F5M33 transmissions, but will it work/bolt up to my '97 GS-T ok? I know the gear ratios aren't as good, but I can deal with that, I just want to drive my poor car already!

I did some searches but didn't find anything, perhaps it's the wording I used...I have less than 8 hours to pick this up so I'm in a rush trying to figure this one out.

Thanks!!!

Acutally...
1g engine and trans has 3 mounts on the engine and 1 on the trans.
2g engine and trans has 3 mounts on the trans and 1 on the engine.

1g tranny has 1 mount. 2g tranny has 2.

So, are you saying that the 1 mount wont line up or that it will fit but I'll only have 1 mount connected to it?

The front, rear, and passenger side motor mount are all on the transmisson on the 2G. On the 1G, there is only one mount on the transmission, the rest are on the block. If you try to put the 1G transmission in, you'll have to fabricate mounts for the front and rear.

Hmm actually it is 3 now that I think about it, always forget that one up front. so basically, if you somehow did get it to work, I wouldnt advise it. Just find a 2g fwd tranny.

Wow, I don't know what ever came over the mitsubishi mechanic I spoke to that said it'll work just fine. Well, I'm having a hell of a time trying to track down a 2G GS-T transmission, I'm in California and I figured it'll be an easy find--any suggestions? Or, is there a place I can get a mount adapter to match up the 1G GS-T transmission? Thanks for the help, I was about to blow $150 on a transmission.

how much are you looking to spend, because id recommend if you had the money to just gone and get a rebuilt performance tranny and get it over with...

I'm just looking for a used transmission.
