calgary,
hey guys i just need to ask a quick question and see what the best idea is about where my oil filter attaches to. so i think i stripped the threads where u attach the oil filter because when i hand tighten it, it just keeps turning when it should be tight and ive started my car many times and the oil just spills out from the filter so im just askin on your oppinion on the best possible way to fix it, should i try tap and die or should i just replace the whole thing? or is there anything else that i can do that im not mentioning please let me know...:talon:

ive had this problem before...check to make sure that the old oil filter gasket isnt stuck to the pump...

The part, onto which youscrew your folter on is actually a hollow bolt, and can be replaced separately. However, you need to find out where you have stripped it. If you stripped threads onto which filter goes on, then simply replace that bolt. If you stripped threads where that bolt goes into the filter housing, then you'd need to replace the whole housing. (about $150 from a dealer, at least for a 1G)

Here's the part number for the bolt:
MD143507

That'll make ordering the right part a little easier.

And here's the number for the whole housing:
MD167787
