Well this morning my turbo sounded weird only sometimes when it spooled, it would make a hummimg/buzzing sound. It got worse towards the night and now when the bov blows off it buzzes/hums also. I cant hear the turbo spool just a hummimg sound as i go higher in the rpms it gets louder. I can hear a hissing sound coming from the intake manifold area so i am going to replace the bov vaccum line and boost controller lines tomorrow to see if that helps at all, and also adjust the screw on my bov to see if that makes a difference. Right now i am leaning towards a leak but if anyone has any idea what it could be that would be awsome. Thanks, Jeff

Sounds like compressor surge, make sure you're not tapping the BOV line for your mbc.

Yea, thats how it is now, i have yet to tap my jpipe for the fitting so i have to keep it like that for now. But the thing is its been like that for months now and just started doing it now?

You can use the "p" port on the TB for now until you tap the J-pipe, still not ideal but better than the BOV line especially when dealing with possible surge issues. Don't forget to run a thorough boost leak test to get that out of the way as well as check the turbo for shaftplay, make sure the blades are not contacting the compressor housing.

Yea, i was also going to check for shaft play tomorrow, but why would my bov sound like an RC car if the blades were hitting?

Well, checked for shaft play today very little side to side pretty much just as i got it brand new and no in/out. I adjusted the screw on the bov but it didnt help but it pulled a little better. I revved the car with my ear at the intake filter and hear a whine then sh-sh-sh-sh-sh coming up through the intake pipe after i stop revving. I still have to do a boost leak test but i dont have a tester. Driving around it sounds like there is a cat under the hood while boosting and when the bov blows off it sounds like a cats meow.

Anything else i should check for since i dont have a boost leak tester? Also i have an HKS ssqv and can actually twist it around in circles in the flange, i dont know if thats normal or not or if theres a possibly kea coming from there.

Seems like 90% of the problems associated with these cars are boost/vac leak related. A compressor/air tank and a tester should definatley be your next purchases for the car!

Yea, i have a compressor, most likely gonna go to home depot tomorrow and get the stuff to make one. I pretty much figured it was a leak but i wanted to keep other possibilities open so if thats what it was i wouldnt be as mad haha.:dsm:

This is where I have always tapped into, so if thats wrong where should it be?

Also, Ive been getting a diff sound from my 1g bov (recirculated) since I installed a fmic. It went from a normal psssshhh, to sounding exactly like a external waste gate on a high boosting race car:confused: but it doesnt really sound like bov flutter

Compressor housing, J-pipe, LICP......the closer to the compressor the better.
