I was always under the impression that you couldnt remove the engine with the tranny still on....

Maybe it's a little different in a 2g. But I've done it in a 1g a few times, and just about to do it again. Wouldn't do it any other way. Search for engine removal and you will see 100 other discussions on the same thing, with most people agreeing it's easier with the tranny on the motor.

Leave the bugger on.

For the bolt ons, doing the IM and pulleys/belts/accessories is a billion times easier than when the motor is in there. If you are having problems dropping it in with everything on, assemble the turbo/EM/o2 housing separately and toss that on once the motor is in. That should give you PLENTY of room.

Yea, it is easiest to keep everything together when you pull it out, and it saves time.

To pull it all together like weith said is very easy, just get the cv axles out, and all the vac lines, wiring, exhaust, driveshaft(awd), and when pulling it with a pickerpush down on the tranny side to tilt the engine up, once the engine clears the motor mount you can level it out. but yes instal the IM, and EM, & turbo. Just make sure the rad. +fans are out for easy clearance. If you get an IM like a Magnus one I would wrap it with bubble wrap so no scratches while installing the engine.

Have a couple beers first, it'll go in no problem :D

Put something over your fenders and anything on the motor you don't want to see scratched, as it's a tight squeeze and you may bang around a little bit.

Good luck!
