How long does it take to install a 16G in a 2G

Hope you have a install kit cause you have a 2g. It takes me about 3 hours to install them in 2g's. Sometimes you do run into problems cause of frozen bolts so I would say 4 hours of labor is good for a shop to install.

Agree

Why take it to a shop? It's not that difficult. The main tools I can think of are 8, 10, 12, 14, 18mm sockets, and perhaps a few open-ended wrenches. All you need is a set of jack stands or ramps to do it. Seriously, don't waste the money having a shop do it, it's a great learning experience.

Having said that, my first turbo swap on my car took about 5 hours between 2 days due to various complications and lack of day light. Second time was under 3 hours.

^^^Agreed, if you have a weekend i personally would go for it, its not that hard. You'll gain more experience working on cars as well as a feeling of accomplishment.

Ill be installing a 14b this weekend, i have no experiance installing turbo's, but i do have common sence :)

Dude it's real easy,

I got the install kit from Road Race Engineering and it was super easy.SBR looks better though! You just need some basic hand tools. The oil lines are no problem. Give it a shot, seriously it's not that hard. Here is the link to the install kit http://www.roadraceengineering.com/2g16ginstallkit.htm, or SBR http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=93&. I'd recomend buying the full kit, it makes it much quicker. I installed mine, PM me if you have any problems I'd be more that happy to help a fellow DSMer. :thumb:

Regards,

Tanner

get a repair manual and get your hands dirty and if you cant figure it out, look on the forum and find a good dsmer in your area, im sure someone on the board will be willing to show you.

Just attempt it yourself...you can do it...make sure you block out a time frame though if its your first time...more then likley you will run into problems...but if you have the tools and common sense then you can tackle it easily...

Use WD40etc and spray all ex man bolts, and turbo, o2 housing, etc.
Leave it over night, then spray it again in the morning....then let it dry a little and start working.
This way you got a smaller chance to snap a bolt in the head :), that will slow your job down quite a bit :D
You're good to go!
good luck
