the guessing game ??? [wrong size flywheel from parts store]

I have a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse turbo awd. I ordered a flywheel from napa, the only one they showed for the car. When I picked it up everything looked exactley the same. When I went to install it, it wasnt fitting right so when i took it back off I realized that the diameter of the new one was larger. This is the only flywheel napa showed for my car. So I had napa send the flywheel into thier specialist and they couldn't even match it up. If anyone has a flywheel part number, or an idea that would really help me out. Thanks guys.

You may have recieved a FWD flywheel. The FWD's are just a tad bigger than the AWDs.

You may have recieved a FWD flywheel. The FWD's are just a tad bigger than the AWDs.

Yup. The FWD's overall diameter is slightly larger than the AWD's flywheel. Chances are that was what they gave you.

Project_tsi is a good friend of mine and he works at Napa. I'll see if he can dig up the correct part number for you.

You received a fwd turbo flywheel. Order one for the same year Eclipse GSX and you'll probably get the right one.

Yes, the ring gear is smaller, but the flywheel body is typically machined differently to accept the smaller ring gear.

This may differ per flywheel manufacturer, but this is what I noticed when comparing the FWD and AWD Fidanzas.
