what is the belt on the driverside of the motor?

hmmm, well it's the one going down the right side of the engine if you're looking at the car

you are most likely talking about the timing belt

That would be my guess too, but there are actually 5 belts on the engine.

The main and largest is the timing belt, it drives the camshafts and oil pump/lower balance shaft from the crankshaft and is located under the timing cover.
There is a small belt that drives the upper balance shaft from the crankshaft also under the timing cover.
Then there are three belts for accessories, one drives the AC compressor from the crank pulley, one drives the alternator and water pump from the crank pulley, and the last drives the power steering pump from the water pump pulley.
