need some help. i have a 2nd gen gs-t. made myself a boost leak tester with a gauge on it. as soon as i presurize the system at 15psi i hear my engine oil bubbling in the oil pan. i read all these threads and none of them were able to help me out. does anyone have an idea what it might be? thanx!

Thats odd. The only thing i can think of is some how pressure is leaking into the oil return line? Ive never heard of that happening. But hey its a DSM, anything could happen.

that would be the oil line in the turbo and its normal for a boost test, when you got oil pressure in there and its hot it seals up. You can always stick your tester on you ic inlet and test from there.

Yes it sounds like your boost leaks into turbo oil return line.
You might want to investigate it further as I dont think its a normal condition in a DSM.
Turbo should be sealed even when cold imo, otherwise it would make little sense to connect for leak test at turbo inlet.
How large is the leak?
Does your car loose oil?

Edit: Ive looked a bit around and it seems turbos can leak without oil preassure.

I have kinda the same problem with bubbling. I bought my car just recently, and i gave it a couple of hard launches, when i got back home, we smelled a lot of oil burning. I had that problem before with 3g eclipse but that was because the engine bay was really dirty and after cleaning it, smell went away. I decided to do the same with my 1996 GSX, and smell did go away partially, but after opening the hood i heard bubbling underneath the heat shield somewhere. Can't tell exactly what it is and my experience with DSM engines in absolute 0 :)

Its completely normal. If your pistons arent at t.d.c.,then it can cause your oil to bubble in the pan or air to come out of your dipstick tube. You can either turn your engine manually to tdc or just crank it again and see where it ends up and try a blt again. If you have any technical questions on how to do this just shoot me a p.m.
