Ok heres the deal and ill try to be as specific as possible and this will be kinda long but i cant seem to figure out the problem. I bought 92 auto plmouth laser turbo. When i got it i though just the valves were bent from a broke belt, i only gave $400 for it and the interior it as good as new. But anywasy durning the maintance of replacing all the belts and setting the timing, I couldnt do it becuase the intake cam would not turn. So we took the valve cover off and found that it had been siezed up in hte head from lack of oil and the belt braking. So anyways i bought a stage 1 ported and polished head off of ebay, arp studs, and a full gasket kit. Finally get it all back togather and it runs awesome. Well after a few days of driving it around for a few minutes at a time before i got it street legal and i drove it hard. It ran great! WEll i was driving running bout 90 mph and i blew a small coolant hose and it got hot. So i replaced all of those lines and it got hot again. So i went back to my friends to tear it back down. So he had the head checked and said it was warped .007 and had it milled down. I got new gaskets all over again, new thermostat, and new radiator cap. Put it all back togather got everything set perfect let it idle for like 30 mins to make shure it was ok and the fans were kicking on and they were. So we took it for a drive and it was great for the first 5 min pulled hard. Got a few miles down the road and it started getting hot again. There are no leaking pipes or hoses anywhere. No water in the oil. But its building pressure in the radiator and coolent hoses. Thats what it did the first time after it got hot. WE cant figure out whats wrong now. If i would have just replaced all the hoses to start with i wouldnt be in this mess. Is it possibly the water pump or the radiator itself? I dont know where to start now. Could the block be warped? I just want to get her running like shes supposed to so i can drive her again. Owned the car for about a year now had it running great once and i phucked it up cause of a blown hose. What Do I do Now? Please help a brother out. Thanks Cody

oh yeah and the car is all stock, except for the stage one ported head, arp studes and the gutted stock intake. Has about 160K miles.

And squeeze the lower radiator hose to "burp" it out. Once it stops gurgling, it should be fine. Try not to get burned with searing coolant... personal experience... haha.

you need to take the cap off , turn the heater on high and let the car run for 10-20 mins. that would be plenty of time to get the car to burp. also put better clamps on the hoses. the stock ones are crap. i just had this problem last month. replacing the hoses (even tho they were not cracked) and the better clamps fixed it.

I have a problem which I can't seem to find a solution for! I bought a 91 Talon TSi FWD off a buddy non-running. It blew the timing belt on the highway, and bent almost every valve.

What I did
Pulled head and replaced it with a rebuilt one
Had the head decked
Installed 3 layer MLS head gasket
Installed new TSTAT
I checked both the head surface and the block surface with a straight edge
Cleaned Pistons

The car started right up after I got it all back together. Then about 3 weeks later I found a way to turn up the boost to 14psi (which I did). Then three days later, the car began overheating. I figured it was the thermostat not opening, so i pulled it out the car and continued on.

Then I blew the lower coolant hose that runs from the oil cooler to the turbo. I Replaced it and drove home and the car was fine. It didn't overheat till it was sitting in idle. So I got a new TSTAT(180degree) and put it in, and it runs real funny...... I drove it and the temp goes up a little past 3/4, then it drops down to little below midline like the tstat opened up or something... then as I drive it and boost, it begins to heat up to the red line. When it does that I pull over and let it cool.

I run the fans at all time, so thats not it. All my hoses have been replaced, my heater core has been deleted, and I am using a stock radiator. The main thing that worries me is the fact there is so much pressure in the tstat housing. As soon as I start the car, it just shoots out of the housing! Kinda like i got a blown head gasket, but I have no other symptoms of that.

No mixing, no loss of compression (150 across all four), No smell of burnt antifreeze in the exhaust. Nothing but the high pressures! So today I took the car over to the shop and tore into her.

I removed the head, checked out the head gasket which looks perfect, paint is a little peeling from it, but it doesn't have any breaks in any of the three layers, and the metal is solid. I checked both the head surface and the block surface with a straight edge and it seems perfect, no warping or nothing. I cleaned both surfaces thoroughly with an air tool, and also cleaned the piston faces. Then I put it all back together and filled it all up.

Cant really run the car with the cap off ### it just pours out!! So I filled it and squeezed the hoses trying to push all the air out, but as soon as I start it, I can open the little safety valve on the rad cap and the fluid just starts pouring into the overflow tank. When it does overheat, I pull over and it just pumps steam out the overflow hose. When I hit the throttle while it is doing that the steam is PURE WHITE! Its like its vaporizing the coolant in the compression chamber. But I have no burnt antifreeze in there.

Does anyone have any ideas? Why do I have so much pressure in the housing.

p.s. If I disconnect the wastegate from the o2housing lever, it does not overheat. It only overheats under boost..... HELP!

Did you use new head studs or arp head studs when you put the head back on. If it overheats only when it gets into boost it could be lifting the head a little putting pressure into the coolant system. Also double check your torque on the studs if you have arp studs.

Dude, i got the same exact problems.

My lower coolant line that feeds the turbo keeps busting and spewing out coolant when my car gets hot.

I dont know why, but my engine gets really hot really fast. It overheated last week and blew a line, so i replaced the Thermostat and line, now it blew the same line again. I can't figure out where my pressure is comming from?

My tailpipe doesn't have white smoke comming from it, and i don't see any oil in the coolant, so i dont think its the headgasket or warped head.

well my problem was due to a bad headgasket. i put one in it like three weeks before i started running into issues. an MLS Cometic. then about 2 weeks ago, i tore it all down again and inspected everything. couldnt find anything wrong with the head or gasket. so i cleaned all the surfaces real well with wire brushes, and made it all nice and shiny. then reassembled everything. then last week i tore it all back down because i was still having overheating issues and lots of pressure. saw water burn marks from the water jackets on the block face into the cylinder bore. so icleaned it up and put a new felpro headgasket on it. have not had any issues since.! it would be worth the 40 bucks to change the HG just to be on the safe side.

My engine feels hot after driving my car. My temp gauge stays normal but it seems like the car gets really hot and it takes a while to cool off after i turned the car off. Are all 4g63's like that?
