Ok, I have a 95 eclipse gs 5 speed with 80k on it. This car was originally automatic and i changed it to stick. Everything works fine but the tranny makes a knocking noise and i have no idea what is causing it. When i put the tranny on i installed a stage 3 six puck ceramic clutch along with a new throughout bearing. I made sure the bering was clipped onto the throughout fork also. When i start up the car it makes the noise at idle everytime but when i step on the clutch the noise goes away. Another thing i noticed is that if i step on the clutch and release the pedal very slowly the noise quiets down considerably but if i was to release it quickly it comes back loud. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the fluid or maby moisture in the tranny. Can anyone please help me?

When I converted my 420A to a 5 speed I also had a weird sound at start up. Mine was more of a grinding sound though like metal on metal just scraping. It was the throwout bearing. Goodluck enjoy the swap.

Does it ever have a problem going in to gear? Not all the time, but random ?

Did you make sure that everything was alighned properly?
It sounds like its rubbing against the tob, or something with a fork for clutch engagement. You might want to take a 2nd look at your work and remove the bell housing again. Its rubbing, or hitting something when its in gear, and spinning.

I agree. Look inside the bell housing for marks that would indicate something hitting. Sometimes the little thin metal plate gets bent and hits. But if that's not it and it didn't do it before you changed? Perhaps the trans itself?

You are likely pulling the trans.

Good Luck

yeah i did the clutch on my old gs and got a dry clucth sound for like the first couple of minutes of driving, and it go away when i presed the cluch too.I replaced evrythign oem(sachs).never found out what the sound was, sold the car like that.
