waiting on:

272/272 hks cams or L2 cams from FFWDCONNECTIONS
dsmlink

Beginner/newbie DSM questions. BOV venting, which intake is better, first mods, how to run 10's when you haven't run 12's yet, anything that doesn't fit in another forum.

I guess you posted in the right place.

do the stage 1 mods.. then do the stage 2 mods then.....

Once you've completed these mods, and only then, will you have enough knowledge of how these cars handle power to go further. You should now know how tricky the art of tuning can be, and you're likely well versed in spending money on parts and repairs. It is possible to get over 600 horsepower out of the 4G63 engine, but it will require rebuilding the motor with some forged pistons, strong rods, more aggressive cams, porting the cylinder head, etc. You can even go with a stroker kit to add displacement for bigger torque! Be prepared to spend some big money - especially when things start breaking due to the excessive power output. And things will break.

I doubt your going to be able to even run 11's without a front mount or methanol injection. Also your going to need waaay bigger than 680's. These are only two of the several extra things your going to need. But, hey, at least you posted in the right forum. :thumb:

id forget about the 255 and get an inline pump, bigger injectors (880? or more), a full garett BB turbo would be nice, tial external wastegate (40mm). a shep or TRE tranny would help in being somewhat reliable, check out forced performance cams (FP2), some sticky rubber, and go on a diet.......

Wow... now this is a newb question I haven't seen in a while.

It isn't that easy to hit 10s. People always think just because they have a DSM they'll hit 10s with no problem, well... wrong. You're gonna be putting a lot into your car, a lot more than you probably realize. Especially once you start running it that hard and breaking stuff. Follow the upgrade path, it's a nice guide that will help you out. But don't be a complete idiot newb. Read around the site first. Especially the faq. (Chances are, all your types of questions will be there)

with these cars, that pertains to your car, AND YOU, YOU CAN NEVER GO TO FAR, HAHAHAHAH

just kidding... on a serious note....

your going to need to redo the internals... unless you dont mind watching your engine burst through your hood and another 10 feet into the air (jk, but your engine wont be able to hold the power to get you to 10's without a very, very good tune...dsmlink is gooooooooooood)

Do you plan to keep your car as a Daily driver? Only reason I ask is 10's are rare DD territory. Only seriously Modded or is modded to bland a word, I'll just say purpose built.
Purpose built 10 sec DSM street cars are running atleast 700+ hp you will make crucial sacrifices to run 10's such as low rpm cruising, emmisions, comfort, and importantly your bank account. But some basics are 2.3 stroker, forged crank, forged rods, forged pistons, Full race headwork, 272 in/ex cams, SM Intake manny, Tubular EX manny, larger axles, Shep/TRE full race Trans, Standalone, Big A** injectors, atleast a 57 trim(fp red :D ) 255 or larger pump, Balance shaft elim, Alcohol injection, Big A** IC, Etc etc. Just to let you know try hitting 12's first then climb to 11's so on and so forth. It'd be pretty gutted too so no giving chicks rides in your car :notgood: chicks hate gutted cars

Forget 10s, go straight towards trying to beat Shep:
AEM
Buschur shortblock
Polk Performance Stage 6 head
GT 42R
Shep Dogbox
Methanol with nitrous
AMS Intake Manifold
Etc, etc.

Even though this thread is a joke in the first place, why is a 2.3 needed to run 10s?

if this is your daily driver, shoot for 13's , fast as hell for a daily driver, then maybe run some high octane gas and bump that psi up for the track and you might be able to squeeze a 12 with some kind of air/fuel conroller and good injectors , then once your in the 12's and you have enough cash for a new daily driver, build the biatch and make it run 10's once and then rebuild your blown motor :thumb:

But still, chicks like fast good looking cars not fast gutted buckets :thumb: The question is do you need a 2.3??? NO but do you want one Yeah :sneaky:
