I want to do this to my car and then write up an article with pictures, so if some of you folks can help me, I'd greatly appriciate it.

Basically, I want to wire up a switch to turn on my fans in my car and still have the car be able to kick them on incase i forget. can someone tell me where in the wire id have to splice into to achieve this? also, which of the wires would I need to do this to? Thanks, any help would be appriciated and you will recieve credit in the tech article after i write it.

Is there a reason why you want a manual switch to turn the fans on? If you are having a cooling problem, then you should fix that instead of having a 'constant on' fan.

There are a few signal lines from the 2G ECU to turn on the fans. These are signals that switch the fan relays. All you have to do is connect a switch to ground to turn the fan on.

Look in your service manual for the wiring diagrams on the cooling system and you'll know where to attach your switch.

A way around installing a switch, only if you don't want your A/C anymore. If you have your A/C removed or if you just cut your belt. You can have this option just by turning on your A/C. Voila, instant on fans, and when you turn them off, the ecu can still trigger them when you need them. Just another thought.

na, no cooling issues here... it's just nice to be able to run the fans with the car off so that the engine bay cools off a little faster before oil changes or in between runs at the track. ill double check my service manual....

btw, just hit 100k miles! bye bye warranty! LOL.

That's a different story. You would have to at least have the key turned on since the relays don't have power without the ignition turned on. The car doesn't have to be running but it need to be turned on for this to work.
