Hey guys/girls...

Okay finally got enough money saved up since i bought the car last year. So its time to get my 95 Tsi awd heard transparent. Here is my situation at the moment, I want to build my 95 Tsi from the beggining like new paint job, new motor... etc. At the moment money is kind of tight situation so saving every penny to get my car fixed. So so far i saved up about 3k dollar to get 6bolt build. I know that 1000 dollar will be going to be the labor of motor swap and i might have 1500 or 2000 to get my motor rebuild. I'm getting the 6 bolt shortblock so i need some help from you guys, I was thinking about getting shortblock to oem spec but i was wondering how much oem spec rebuild kit would cost around? Only reason why I'm pretty much going for is the money, but since i'm rebuilding my shortblock i was wondering what i could do with 1500-2000 dollar to get my shortblock to handle more hp.

so far oem spec top line 4g63 rebuild kit is going for $499.

So what should i do?? should i just get oem spec rebuild for my car? or is there possible way rebuild with 1500-2000 to handle more hp?

Also what would part do i need to rebuild shortblock? i just want to see which part and how much?

Thank you

the main ? is what are your goals for the car? The stock 6bolt block is good for 400hp..
Honestly i would jsut upgrade to 2g pistons in it and leave everything else alone..
2g pistons Raise the CR.. faster spool..

engine kit (top line)
balance motor
recondition rods
bore(.40 over)
b/s removal
surface head
valve job
grind crank(.10)
reassemble motor(ready to bolt in)
plus nickle and dime you to death......$1600.00

Tell you the truth my main goal is reaching up to 600whp but not with stock 6bolt motor but i just want my car to hit 12's in 1/4 mile until i get enough money for the buschur state 3 shortblock with stage 3 head. I bought my car with reason first being that dsm is been always my dream car, second because i want to build my car from the scratch and make it fast and how i wanted to look. third im planning to open up a shop after i finish high school with friend of mine that is into euro cars. So basically we'll be the owner and mechanic that respect other ppls car like its our own so i guess later on in the future i guess you could say it will be out shop car? Is my goal good enough for you? I know 6bolt shortblock is good for 400hp but tell you the truth i just want to maybe try to reach low 12s and high 11 with 6bolt motor until i get my buschur stage 3 motor later on. Yeah i been searching everyday for the rebuild and i see that 2g piston on 6bolt could handle good amount of hp. So most like i want to go with 2g piston but money might be the issue there...

yeah so far top line engine rebuilt kit is 500
i have a shop will disassemble and reassemble my motor for i believe 600.
also dsmotorsport will be doing the engine swap for 1000.
also shortblock price not sure at the moment...
i'm taking intake & exhaust mani from my 95 tsi...
also i will be getting 1g head w/hopefully port/polished for more flow..
so far that is 2100 and i have 900 for misc parts..

so what i need to know is i want to build my motor for 2000 that could handle more hp than 400 hp.

I don't know exactly what your asking because of how you worded your sentence; however I'll try to answer something. If you are looking for a block that can handle upwards of 400 hp then the stock block would handle that and roughly up to 450 hp. These numbers aren't exact since there are many variables such as how well did the machine shop do when maching and putting everything back together, or how well tuned the car is. There are many routes to complete a shortblock under 2000. If you have a garage you could pull the motor yourself by getting a engine hoist from advanced auto for around 200 dollars. Take your block to the shop, i believe we had my cousins block deglazed, tanked, bored 20 over, and honed for roughly 200, a mistubishi overhaul gasket kit (which is every gasket on the longblock) was 200, parts dinosaur has good prices on pistons, bearings, and on other gaskets if you don't want mitsubishi. So lets break this down
pistons 200 oem from slowboy
bearings rod/main 18/35 dollars from www.partsdinosaur.com
engine hoist 200
machine work 200 roughly
if you dont have a 6 bolt 100-250 from the classifieds
1g big rods 40-150 classifieds
arp rod bolts 40 about anywhere has them
arp headstuds 90 www.jacksonautomachine.com
machine shop putting together your block 200-350 (its really not that hard to dissassemble a shortblock, we did ours in less than a day.)
So rougly for about 700-1500 you can have a shortblock that doesn't cost very much. Im giving that much room for money because of miscellaneous things that pop up, and trust me they will. But keep in mind if you don't feel comfortable doing something like taking out the engine, take your time, get preferably a dealer manual or one of those cheap mechanic books for our cars at advance/auto zone read it carefully and take your time. But if you know that you absolutley don't want to do it because you don't feel that you can there is another option. Slowboy and buschur offer stock shortblocks that handle up to 450 hp that are 1500 dollars. Now totalling everything that you need and machine costs you may just want to go with them. I know this was a long post but i tried being thourough as possible about giving you a halfway decent estimate or money and showing that it isn't that much more expensive to get it from a vendor. Hope this answered your question. And please try to be a little more clear on your questions.

Hey thank you for the reply but i already have my shortblock built already and just waiting for my shop to get back to me so i could get the swap done.

So here is little update for you if your interested

I went with Ross piston 8:5:1 bore over .020
use the 1g big rod
bearing sets
APR hardware

I bought alot of other parts from dsmotorsports. Like stuff i need to put the 6bolt shortblock together.

So my price was
parts was 1600 [other than bearing i bought all oem parts]
shortblock 200
head 300
intake mani 100

So i spend over 3000 but i think its worth it since i'll push the motor to the limit and see what this motor has to offer and then i'll probaly go with buschur or some stroker kit. But at the moment im undecided.

Thank you once again luke for reply
