ive heard that the 1g's have 6 speakers, even with the base radio. i have the am/fm radio plus tape deck on the bottom. if i have 6 speakers, where are the other 2?

that may be the 1gb's. i have a 93tsi awd with the tapedeck and it has 6. tho the driver door doesnt work LOL. on top of the dash near the corner of the windshield. if you dont have grills or sound flowing out of that area, then u prob dont have 6.

icic, i popped the grills off near the windshield, and sure enough it looks like 4" tweeters, which is pretty cool for a 15 year old car to have 6 speakers.

How many speakers are in my stock 1998 GS-t and i was wondering where they are located the sizes and what are the best speakers for replacement thanks

well in my 95 , also a 2nd gen, the stock audio system came with 6 speakers total. There are 2 6.5" round in the doors, 2 6x9" in the side panels by the backseat, and 2 small like maybe 2.25" speakers on the dash corners. Also the system comes stock with a small amp that should be under the passenger seat. I personally replaced mine with higher end infinity and stuck a bigger amp on them for more sound. The 2 small ones on the dash i had to disconnect and just not use after i took out the stock amp. I am a big fan of infinity speakers.

Does anyone know the size of the door and rear compartment speakers in a 2G Eclipse? I am looking to replace the blown-out pairs I have in my car. Also does anyone have any recommendations?

Door = 6.5"
RQP = 6x9"

I have Infinity Kappas in mine which have great clarity. But different people have different taste in what they find pleasing to the ear. It's best to go listen to different speakers and compare the different tonal qualities to determine what you like.

Well I had 5.25"s in the front and 6.5" in the rear in my AWD, but then again, I don't have a sunroof so my car is not like all of them...

Eight? I have 2 in the doors, 2 in the dash, and 2 in the rear.... Where are your other two OE speakers?

Same here. That was the "premium package" with the double DIN head unit that plays both CD's and what are those other things called again...........oh yeah, cassette tapes. The sad part is I'm old enough that I actually still have quite a few of those. :coy:

The car I have is full loaded and the paper with all the stuff it has when first bought sais eight infinity speakers.

Guess what, I just looked at the original window sticker from when I bought my car and it does say that it has a premium Inifinity 8 speaker system. They lied to us. I've had basically every inch of my interior apart for various reasons including installing a full aftermarket system and I am positive that there were only six as Paul described.

John, you are redeemed.:D

they might count 8 if you add that one is a Coax with a tweeter built in.
This is called a 2 way speaker and can be counted as two separate speakers.
You know how manufactures play the "numbers game"

By the way I suggest "Memphis Audio" best speakers for the buck and sound
Real nice!

Yea, its labeled 8 speakers, because of the 2way coax thing. They are still doing that today on new cars. It appeals more.

Oh yea when your buying new speakers and you are testing/hearing them in the stores, most of the time these speakers are being amped. Your going to buy expensive speakers and have them powered by your stock amp/deck setup it won't give you the same results. But that combo will yield better than just an aftermarket deck powering those speakers. Regardless of how "pimp" or "Expensive" your deck is, aftermarket decks put out measly power. So just something to remember on your purchase.

I would look into getting a component set for the front. Our cars are already conveniently wired/setup for an easy replacement, as all the wiring lands at the harness to the stock amp. Not to mention IMO they sound more "full".

Oh and 95(maybe 96) stock premium deck on gst/gsx >>> 97-99. No CD player, but has cassette and AUX in on the front! Who burns regular cds these days. :)

Does anyone know where all my speakers are located, everywhere I check says my 2g has "8" speakers, I only know of 6. Front tweeters, Door speakers, and Rear speakers by the back seats.
