HEY.
This is the new thread for "how much for insurance?" posts. As you'll see, IT DEPENDS. On many, many capricious, unforseeable, whimsical, moronic and pointless THINGS.

But feel free to yammer and argue about it anyway.

I was wondering how much, per year, you guys were paying for car insurance. I just wanted to see if I was paying a fair price.

Mine is under my dads name but it's about 1450 a year except i have no collision coverage so if i wreck it and it's my fault then my car is gone!!

man it must be nice livin' at home with mom and dad. well i have state farm ins maxed on coverage 500 deductable 2 to 3 speeding tickets per year $96.00 per month in tx. 9 accidents, but none in my eclipse and none in the last 4 yrs. and my ins rep is a good friend of mine. i also take def. driving every year and rest i either fight in court or take defered judification.

Well i dont have a dsm yet but a 94 GSX would cost me 340 bucks every 6 months, or 56 bucks a month, Im a 17 year old male who is on the Honors list (Getting A's gives me 15% off on insurance)+ 10% off for takeing drivers ed, I also don't have any tickets so that helps.

I just got my renewal quote last week. Now that I am turning 25, my insurance is only $102 per month....or $1224 per year.

That is full coverage, $500 deductible, with $100/$300 under and un-insured motorists coverage :)

Next year I will married, and it will go down even more :D

Yeah me.

Currently, I am paying $1924/year for full coverage on my 1996 Eclipse GSX and everything but Collision on my 1992 Tsi AWD. 27 years old with no points... finally

3 years ago, when I had only the Eclipse, my insurance was $2700/year. I then got wreckless and managed 18 insurance points. Upon renewal, they wanted $8400. No way! For you NJ folk who have a lot of points, pay attention. So I went out and bought a 1982 AMC Eagle for $500, gave it basic coverage, and made that my daily driver and the Eclipse my secondary vehicle. Insurance dropped to $3600/year. A lot of money still, but better than $8K+. Turned 25 and my insurance dropped to $3200/year. Upgraded the 1982 AMC to a 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon and somehow managed to drop my insurance to $3100/year. Saw the 1992 Tsi for sale and bought it, gave it basic coverage and theft and my insurance dropped to $2600/year. So at that point, I was insuring 3 cars on 18 points for $100 less than when I had 1 car and no points. It is a loophole in NJ insurance. On multiple car policies, all points are only held over the rate for the primary vehicle. So you put basic coverage on the primary POS driver. They use some wacky equation for the secondary vehicle, but it comes out cheaper than usual. Not sure about it working in other states. Anyway, ended up selling the AMC evetually and after 3 years of clean driving (actually 39 months... they get ya that way), my insurance dropped hard to where it is now.

Moral of the story: If you live in Jersey and have a lot of points, buy a junker and make it your primary driver. If you are in another state, ask your rep.

I pay 62.06 a month. Except for December where I make the last carryover payment for the year of like 20. I am 25 and ALL my tickets fell off.

Go me. :)

I was wondering how much ,per year, are you guys pating for insurance. I wanted to know if i'm paying too much or I got a good deal.

$96 a month for my 96 AWD and my 92 AWD. Both at $250 deductible and double the state minimums for collision, etc etc. It also includes full glass coverage with $0 deductible. On top of that, I only insure the 96 for 8 months a year as its not a winter car so during the winter car I only pay $54 a month for both cars.

Lol the "buy a sh!tbox, park it in a field, and insure it" trick works great, everyone in South Dakota does it, no wonder why everyone has 8 rusted out bombs in their yard... wait, those are hicks, nm :(

$2700 a year--liability... brooklyn is the worst, especially now, considering im 22. I heard its going to go up too!!!

Damn!!!!!!!! OMG What kind of insurance do you have because that's a lot. I'm only 23 and I recently just got a Speed Contest Ticket (misdeameanor) so now I'm paying $2040 which is still $600 bucks lower than yours. I use to pay $1410 a year before my ticket. :(

regular liability, i m not sure for how much but i know i took the cheapest one... i know, there is nothing cheap about this one.. i think rates here are the highest, thats y i cant wait to get out and move somewhere where insurance dos not cost more than the car....

*looks around for a licensed insurance rep in every state represented here*

Oh gee, there is none.

I am licensed in FL only with the FL DOI (department of insurance). A lot of people "think" they have full coverage, and in fact do not. Each state differs as to what coverages there are. The rates are constantly changing, it depends where you live, the car, your record, your age, etc etc etc.

To sum it up...this post will not help anyone out just like every other insurance premium question out there. You can't compare your insurance to someone else, especially who is not in the same state as you. So please don't get upset or say "Wow! You pay a lot!" Cuz chances are if you moved there you might be paying more than them!!!

Oh yeah, and I never, ever, ever want to live in MI or NJ....their auto insurance is so messed up. :D

I pay $277 a month on my 2g gsx, full coverage.Thats with a 94 firebird with a v8 as a second car. If it was just my gsx it would be $211.00 a month? Its Fxxxed up but some how my dads car gets away for cheap! I have 3 not fault collisions. They can be as bad as 1 at fault. Leave it to three women to hit me and raise my rates! That was in my 86 firebird, goooood god am I happy that things gone and my dsm keys are in my pocket!

Geez, you guys (and gals!)

I pay $900 a year in Cali, for two cars:

Road Warrior is a 2000 Chrysler 300M, used for daily driving. has collision, theft, upgraded liability, etc.

The weekend car is my Talon, just basic liability, no collision or theft.

I have my house insurance from the same company; saves 15%.

I pay about $1600 every six months. That's full coverage on the eclipse and just liability for my beater truck. This is Michigan coverage....it blows. I lost my civic to their stupid insurance law.
