Ok, about 2 years ago i went and blew my engine, so while rebuilding i decided to do it right. Here is the setup

6 bolt block, 8.5:1 JE Pistons .020" over, ported, polished, Ferrea 1mm Over valves, HKS 264/272 combo (full details in car profile)

Well now the car is in need of exhaust, its choke insanely. one night we pulled the cat and test drove it and it pull WAY harder. not i'm still on stock turbo but soon i want to go with evo 3 or better, i would prefer the 2.5 exhaust for ground clearance and price. But i feel that i will eventually run into the same issue. so should i spring for the 3in and drive the car for months while i penny pinch, or will the 2.5 flow alright? also not sure about if i'll have creep probs. also any recommended brands would be great.

Oh and this is an Auto...(header and o2 dump to atmo in garage)

"Header"? As in DNP exhaust manifold/header or.....

Well, I've responded to dozens of these 2½" vs 3" exhaust threads, and nothing has changed my opinion or reasoning since the first time I've posted in one, so here is the same answer from all the old one's.

2½" will do, but why settle? Ground clearance wont be too much of an issue because most aftermarket springs (including Sprints and 2"+ rated drops) wont drop the car low enough for it to be an issue. The only way it will be an issue is if you chop your springs (big no-no), have coilovers that are set very low, or live in an area with very crappy roads. If all those pass the test, ground clearance wont be an issue.

Think about your future plans. You want an Evo III B16G, but how long will you stick with it? You settle for 2½" now, you may be kicking yourself later when your wanting to purchase that 50 trim.
