Ok, whats the point? DSMtuners.com says that 14b can produce 375HP but you need 20G or larger to produce 400HP? So why even upgrade to 16 or 18g turbos? I just bid on a big 18G turbo and now I feel like a jackass LOL

The car has a stock 14b turbo running 18 psi, was hoping to get a larger turbo and lower the psi...btw, how much more lag will the big 18g have, and how much more power would it add, if I kept it at 18 psi? The car has full exhaust and intake, but stock intercooler.

Which car do you have?

An 18g is a nice turbo. Many people in other aspects of tuning use it. It is just not worth the money when you go from a 16G to a 18G. 20G's can be had for about the same amount of money, if not less, and you have more power potential than an 18G can give.

Don't get me wrong though. The 18G is an improvement over the 16G. Just not over the 20G for the same price. :thumb:

can you tell me how this marvel is achieved.

I have the supporting mods. with a fmic on the way. I would looooooooooove to get 375 out of her.

It is more like 275-300 with a great tune. In an AWD (around 20% drivetrain loss) that would get around the 375 range at the crank, just barely.

Im sure there are some people that could surprise us with how much a 14b CAN put out its just how fast youre going to kill it is the question :)

375 hp though I believe is pushing it. Maybe it depends on the supporting mods

Depends on what type of racing you are doing. Road race you will want something small that will boost fast, drag, bigger flow poteintal for bigger numbers then there are the street/strip cars that want both good light to light power but want to be able to lay down some good numbers at the track. That's it for now.

Its a '90 Talon TSI, running 18 PSI on the 14B. So the 18G will be a nice improvement? I honestly dont need a lot more power...but I figure with the bigger turbo = cooler air, more power...less stress on the turbo...I could turn down the boost a bit. As it is now, I dont have a racing tranny....so I cant launch really hard anyway...or shift to hard, but was just wondering if me buying that 18g is a waste or not. Stock 14b to 18G upgrade.

EDIT:
btw, full exhaust and intake done...except intercooler, everthing is pretty much done except...stroke the motor, turbo upgrade..intercooler upgrade....intake manifold and the head work

all the really $$$ stuff ;)

Yes, it will give a nice improvement.

You do or don't want more power? (see red items)

I know I am in a 2G and whatnot. But take a look at my sig and profile and you can see the potential a bigger than stock turbo can give with a moderate tune and NO engine work.

Side Note:
If you change your profile and signature you will get better/quicker responses.

More power would be nice, but with out a stronger drivetrain..things will just break faster. I am really looking at lowering the psi to get the same HP and maybe use lower octane gas. More power is always nice :)

midnight- how come with all those mods you are only running a 14? it seems like a lot of cars with less have gone quite a bit faster. im not trying to be an ass or anything, just curious

DSMotorsports used a 80 shot of No2 to get that 11.7 sec pas.

i plan on skipping the 16g,18g, and 20g and going straight o a 25g or 50 trim. i am currently on a 14b :dsm:
