Thicker oil = crankwalk prevention?

Well if the theory of the oil squirters malfunctioning is true, then no this would not be the case.

To me, 5W-30 is perfect for cold weather and 10W-30 is good for warm weather. I think thick oil would only prove to clog the oil squirters more if it is true. Plus your turbo likes oil that is nice and thin rather than thick.

The manufacturer recommends 5W-30 for weather under 100F or 10W-30 for weather over 100F.

Also, please realize that crankwalk is STILL uncommon in 2G DSMs, this board just makes it appear that way. If we knew exactly what caused crankwalk we wouldn't have the problem.

Did the 1st gen cars ever get crank walk? Are you sure crank walk is uncommon in 2 gen cars because I read an article about 2nd gen owners trying to file a law suite against Mitsusbishi. So I would assume that crank walk might be more common than some think it is. I don't know I was just wondering what other peoples opinion was if crank walk is something all dsm owners should worry about.

i use 20w-50 castrol syntec synthetic oil in my 91 eclipse turbo... it has 151k miles... anything less, or not synthetic and i get a tick tick tick tick
