Hey guys,
my new to me 2g GSX needs a head, as was confirmed by the guys at Mach V (ex. valve, cyl 2 stuck open). I was hoping that if I provide beer, some food, etc, etc.. I could get a hand (from someone more knowledgable than I) to help me do the swap.

I can help you over the internet if your patient and willing and have the right tools. I just ripped the head off my car and can take pictures if you want of what you have to do, what to look out for and what not.

Vienna is a bit of a hike to be honest, but if your just pulling and swapping a new head you should be able to do everything in like 4-6 hours depending on your skill/motovation.

Well, to be totally honest, not sure of what all tools I would need, but ANY AND ALL help offered is greatly appreciated.. DSMX17, she runs, just a cylinder down... still drivable, just dont wanna push her... and like i believe I said before, i am not fULLY familiar with my new engine bay yet, so it would probably take me 10+

So, got the new to me head in from fed ex this morning... Will be a project in its own right to clean it up. And going through the manuals that I have and looking at the head, I realize i really need some more knowledgeable helping hands.... Offer from earlier still stands, and you can PM me, or talk to me through AIM (marineeagle28).. On a side note, was driving her back from skyline drive Wednesday morning, and she broke down off exit 27, and she was completely empty of oil, and I just changed it like 2 weeks ago, drain plug still tight and in place... ahh its just a mess... when they run, they run great... but when they dont...........

well i still have to start the swap, no leaks on any of the oil lines or at the filter.. and what is this oil housing that you are referring to?

still working on it, have to work it in around the work schedule/ social life.. lets see.. as for update, I have all but the balancer belt off, and most of the stuff off f the intake manifold.. still have to get that manifold, and the exhaust manifold off, then i can do the head bolts.. the REALLY bad, Cylinder 3 Spark plug was horribly melted (came out like it was cross threaded, and you cant even tell that there used to be an electrode) and from looking down the hole, it appears that there is a massive hole dead center on that piston.. so i may be attempting to build a whole new motor MUCH sooner than I expected... look for a post in the tech areas... may be diverted to newbie, but i hope not...

hey keep me updated on what you got going on and if you need parts, i have a good spare head and a block that needs some work, and a whole mess of miscellaneous bullshit laying around the garage. If you need a hand on a day that im available ill see if i cant make it over there

Well, got the head off.. Long story short, Time to build a new monster. Expanded version, Cylinder 2. Exhaust valve stuck open, cylinder 3 3 Valve heads missing, 4th severely damaged, and the piston is beaten to hell and back with a massive hole going through the face of it, and what appears to be thee remains of valves and metal shavings. Also, cylinders 4 and 2 pistons appear to have received FOD from the other cylinder and have nicks on the piston faces.
Looks lik i may be headlong into a stroker project before too long..

be careful what you get yourself into, if you dont know exactly what to do and how to do it i would not make a lonesome attempt at a rebuild/stroker/anything but stock... i made the moistake of building my 7bolt without any true knowledge or experience and it took me 6 whole months and alot of extra parts... pm me if you need any info and i would suggest doing alot of research on the money and work involved in a project like this

maybe a shot in the dark, but does anyone have some pistons i could buy and a hone for the cylinder walls i could borrow? Looks like i'll just be doing a stock rebuild as funds have depleted and i need the car back on the road asap

how many pistons do you need? what bore? I might have a couple laying around, I know I have at least 6 or 7 sitting here, just have to make sure they are the proper bore and in good shape.

UPDATE: Finally have all the parts that I need. (pistons, rings, all kinds of gaskets..)
Went under the car to see what i can do about pulling the oil pan.. no big surprise, the Xfer case and driveshaft are in the way.. pull out the manual and looks like it will be a royal PITA. Does anyone have some tips or friendly helpful advice...
Shot in the dark, would anyone be willing/ able to help? Fastest way to contact is to text me at 7034001460..
Thanks all.
