MD/DC/DE/PA shops for 6 bolt swap
Hi guys,
I've been perusing the forums for quite some time now and I'm finally getting ready to purchase a DSM of my own. I have the opportunity to purchase a '95 Eclipse GSX for a reasonable price. However, with all the reports of crank walk I feel that the best option is to swap in a 6-bolt 4g63 rather than build up the 7-bolt (of course tell me if I'm wrong). I'm not so familiar around the 4g so I was wondering if there were any (reputable) shops in the DC/MD/PA/DE area that would perform this swap or at least prep the engine so I didn't have to do the custom work like modifying the oil pan, swapping on the 2g head, trimming the 2g mount, etc.
Thanks.
Also, if this has already been discussed ad-nauseum, could someone please point me in the right direction because I can't seem to find it through the search function.

I wouldn't worry about doing a 6 bolt swap unless the car has problems or the engine is shot. The stock 7 bolt can handle a lot. If it's in good condition with decent miles, just do maintenance on it when you get it. Then if/when something happens, then look into dropping money into the engine. But crankwalk is way overrated.
But if you want some shop names, a few I know of are JNZ Tuning and Slowboy Racing. I believe they'd be able to help you out.

That sounds like a pretty decent plan, but my main fear is that I invest a couple grand into the engine and then I have to replace it. But I'll toss the idea around in my head for a few days and see what happens.

If by that you mean build your 7 bolt and then have it crankwalk, it'd be vary rare. Not saying it's not a possibility, but not very likely to happen. There are people on here pushing over 400hp on a 7 bolt. If you want the extra security, do the swap.

jnz tuning and extreme motorsports would do a swap at a good price if you really want it done. idk if i would really worry about it unless you have problems with it when you buy the car...

I would go to either JnZ Tuning in Philly or ISP racing in Beltsville. Or hit me up I am slow at work and I can do the swap to, I just did a 6 bolt swap. I work a a shop in Bethesda, but if theres nothen wrong with your 7 bolt why mess with it? I could even give you a hell of a deal on some 7 bolt internal parts too

Support our vendors, get awesome pricing and awesome customer service by going with VIP Garage located in Sterling, VA. Talk to Marti, I think their phone number is 703-433-2400. He has tons of experience with the 4g63, shit he even owns a 2g.
