So I recently swapped in a new 7 bolt that I got super cheap after my car has been sitting in ky garage for about 5 years due to timing belt mishap. Anywho, I recently installed a evo 1 big 16g in place of the cracked and max shaft play 14b that was in it and it seems like it isn't pulling like it should on stock boost. So I did a boost leak test and make sure my exhaust was l leak proof before and after the turbo and as I was under the hood I reved it a littpe bit and noticed a tick coming from the maf. I had a buddy hop in and when it would happen. It is the stock one off of my stock engine and I never had any problems before. My mods are up to date along with the 16g. I know I need a wideband and a logger so I can tune it, but am trying to work out all the bugs bef9re hand. My cel is on and I plan on having it ran on monday to see if that will tell me. Just fishing to see if anyone else has had this tick. Thanks

I'll post one soon. It sounds like when a relay is ticking, but more intense. I don't have any knowledge as to what is inside as far as switches or anything. I just think it is kind of weird that it doesn't tick at idle. Maybe the tps sends a signal and that part is screwed up.

Dang. It's not letting me post a video for some reason. I'll try and hunt one down to try it, already checked my wires. I can even feel the tick with my finger and I also used a long chunk of all thread to my ear on the turbo and everything else.

Resolved. Well I now feel stupid. The previous owner mounted the boost controller solenoid right under my maf and they were touching. Found a break in two of the wires, patched em up, and said ticking is gone. Thinking on swapping for a manual boost controller anyways.

It would seem the tick is coming from inside the turbo/exhaust and is just echoing through the intake pipe and MAF.

Like stated take it off and make sure everything is still tight in the MAF, there should be no moving components inside.
